    Default Bomber availability.

Sorry if this info is available and right in front of me, but what is the availability of the bombers at the minute?

I've seen a couple of capronis around but no gothas.
Are they due to be reprinted at any stage? Or am I out of luck?

    Thanks

    G'day Darren!
The Caproni's & Gotha's are very hard to get.
There is a Gotha on Ebay at present. Check out the link in the thread in the Hobby section "Ebay lot & Gotha"

However Keith has a selection of the Handly Page's & Straaken's available in the Aerodrome Store here at excellent prices.

Looks like Keith has a Caproni (yellow camo) in stock.

Miniature Market also still has both yellow versions in stock.

Gothas will be, at this point more than likely impossible to get at a non-inflated price. The one that Barry mentioned above on ebay is probably the best deal you will get right now.

Which Caproni's & Gotha's where the best to get. Based on popularity, known pilot, victories, etc...

IMHO the dark CEP one seems to be the hardest to find, then the the blue Buttini, the yellow La Guardia and the yellow and green camo. The other metal one is very nice but you would need a base and cards, pegs etc. Of the two Gotha's probably the dark camo Von Korff was the rarest.

Ask Evan (Xen on the Forum) whether he has any.

Hardest to find of best, because of pilot and history, to get? I thought the La Guardia might be novel since, I thought, he became a mayor in the U.S. Would Buttini be a better find than La Guardia?

I am not entirely sure why a model sells more quickly. The CEP115 is a Caproni operated by the French, and therefore "belongs" on the Western front. Conjecture only, but maybe that makes it harder to find?

So in order of preference of favorite to have would be:
    CEP115
    La Guardia
    Buttini
    Taramelli

    That's a question

Would you get the Buttini or La Guardia

Hi Ken, here's my take on it:

Some prefer a certain paint scheme, some chase the hard-to-find models, some want the well-known pilots. It sounds like you prefer the more well-known or accomplished pilots? The way I see it, there is no standard of what is going to be universally "preferred". It all comes down to what speaks to you personally. I don't think there is a standard for which model is "best" to get - for the most part the different paint schemes are all going to play exactly the same - the exceptions may be gun configurations.

As for me, I think I'd have to say that the perceived rarity of the model is probably my top criteria - I enjoy the hunt. I have more Nexus models than Ares models, and I'm more likely to delay a purchase when I know that the model is readily available and will be for awhile. When I make a purchase of a model that is readily available, my decision is based more on the paint scheme than the pilot.

The CEP115 and Buttini models were released in 2012, and La Guardia & Taramelli in 2014. The first two are harder to find, my guess is because they've simply been out of print longer. I'm not educated enough to know which pilot is more accomplished, and which paint scheme to buy is going to boil down to personal preference. My bet is that the average Wings player (even on this forum) isn't up to speed on the history of most of the individual pilots. I doubt that that would drive sales as much as paint scheme, but I could be wrong (Albert Ball, anyone?)

You're right I do prefer the more well-know or accomplished pilots. La Guardia sounds interesting because he was a famous Mayor in the U.S. The CEP, even though more generic, if it was the Western Front could be cool to have. But I have notice that there are several on line and some at reasonable prices. Like everyone I'm on a budget I'm tempted to get the cheaper ones but if I can find the ones I like for a little more I would tend toward those.

    Thank you for your input.

    Hi Darren,

There are two von Korff Gothas available on Ebay from Xen's store 'Gear 'n Goggles' - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wings-Glory-...item3ad36e4002

Not cheap but postage won't be too bad from Melbourne to NZ.

Just picked up a Caproni from Traveling Man for Ł8.25. 70% off. Might be worth trying other TM outlets if they are selling off stock.
See you on the Dark Side......

Has Ares said whether they are going to reprint the bombers? If so any idea what the schedule might be?

You're after a reprint run of a reprint run? (Gothas and Capronis)

Highly unlikely it'll be any time soon .......................... they still need to reprint Series III first, and the balloons, and Series IV at least; that'll put it into 2020!

Some giants are still available at www.rebel.pl, app. 140 PLN each. Divide the price by 4 and you get it in USD. However, postage may be pricey.

Goodness, that is a while to wait. It is too bad really. That drives up the collector costs and boosts ShapeWays' business without anything going toward Ares bottom line.
