Default AAR - Flashes First And Last Over ... Somewhere....

This is a quickie AAR of a solo game based on Carl's WGF EF03 - First and Last over Rozhishche (WGF historical scenario for 2 players)...
I used the same aircraft types, my D8 charts for the Alb, my own alt & manoeuvres, and shooting was peg to peg.

2Lt Owen Dewes is very happy with the squadrons latest acquisition - a shiny new Nieuport 11 with RFC decals and even happier when he comes across a lone Albatros C.III on a recon mission..

He is somewhat surprised as they turn toward each other and manage a pass without either getting a shot off - this is no dozy German pilot.

They circle back and make a head on pass - rounds are exchanged and some patter through the Nieuport's wings .:. but it seems the spandau jams before too much damage is done.

They circle warily and Owen moves in again - his rounds seem to have no effect and the rear gun of the German jams - an opening ?

Dewes was very lucky to get two wounding shots in so quickly but the fire was having quite an effect on the German machine and would have forced it to retire if the pilot had come round.
Things may have been much harder if I'd thought to play ammo & reloading rules for the Lewis gun - next time maybe.
    A fun scenario - thanks Carl .

That was a quick one for sure.
Interesting matchup - well played and photographed (as usual)

Question: how did Owen hit both crewmen with one card ?

That's me applying the FotG optional expanded crew damage rule to two-seaters Pete - not sure it's in the RAP ? Anyway for 'added realism' this rule provides a chance that an attack may hit more than one of the crew in a bomber...so someone thought why not in a two seater. Made sense to me, so I use it, and have done in OTT, for years. For quickness, rather than faff about with tokens (which I hate), I roll a D6: 2,3 hits the pilot, 4,5 hits the gunner, 1,6 hits them both. I have refined it at times depending on the angle of attack where 1 hits both and split the 3 to 2 against the crewman nearest the gun firing at them. Anyway it's p9 in FotG if anyone's interested.
I was intending to use the wounded observer rule from OTT but the pilot was killed before that could come into effect !

A brief and bloody affair indeed Dave, glad you enjoyed the scenario.

Yep, sometimes the cards just don't turn up your way. Good play, though.

One of the better AAR's I've seen in a while. Excellent photos and commentary.

Thanks chaps. Could have been quite a different story but for those zeroes & jams
