    Default Reporting for duty.

    Greetings all,

I've only just ventured into WoG and I'm already slightly obsessed. I (quite appropriately) have about ten hours of experience and have flown about four sorties. I have a lot of other wargames but could never convince my regular gaming opponents to get into WoG (). This week I bought both duel packs, to lure my 10 year old niece and wife into gaming, and I'm really impressed with the game and the community it supports.

    Tally ho!

    Welcome to the 'Drome, Andrew!

Your wife and a 10 year old will both certainly push you to your limits - by the time you convince your regular opponents to jump in (and you will!) you'll be more than a match for them!
I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!

Thank you for the welcome chaps. Chris I from south wales, just above newport and will be coming to warfare (as long as my failing body allows it ) so hopefully will see you there. I'm struggling with the lack of availability of some models (and that I can't afford everything I'd like ). I have a lot of other wargaming stuff that needs to go and will try and convert as much of that revenue into WoG purchases.

Good to have you on the Drome Wingman.
I expect I will see you in the Officers' Mess later, where we can have a good old chinwag over a glass or three.

    Welcome, from Newark.
My (soon to be 11) son has been playing since he was about 7, and is more than capable of holding his ownagainst both myself and other club members. So much so, he has already assigned himself his own aircraft! (Nieuport XIII)

Welcome to the 'drome Andrew from East Sussex on the south coast, women & kids will punish you so be careful in the skies when flying against them.
If your mates won't play we do have solo gaming alternatives to suggest.

Welcome Andrew! I too fly with a younger wingman. (Speaking of Wales, I've been working on a model railroad layout for Ivor the Engine)

Thank you all for the warm welcome, most refreshing and gratefully received. Vindicator: if it's any help a 45 degree slope is as close to flat as anything (that isn't a road, railway or river) gets around here - I'm not sure that will make a good layout for Ivor though ;) . My house was built by the MRCC (Monmouth Railway and Canal Company) in 1851 as the station master's and was the site of the original turntable, it still has a noticable platform (under the grass).

I'm hoping WoG will help re-inspire with gaming as I'm suffering with some hobby burnout (partially associated with mass painting of 1:100 WW2) and it'll hopefully help me lure my other half into playing a few games with me. I'm struggling slightly with a dangerous mix of over excitedness, lack of funds and the general difficulty in obtaining large parts of the WoG range. It makes me wish I'd ignored my friend earlier.

    Thank you all,

    BeneathALeadMt (BALM)

Thank you all for the warm welcome. My first games with actual opponents were a success with my wife being the only plane left flying in both games (in a DVa and then a Spad XIII), she deviously avoided getting caught up in the frantic central dogfight with the other three planes and repeatedly swooped in to pick off her opponents. My niece seemed to enjoy it (especially being MVR) and Wings was a perfect introduction to gaming. She's often asked about playing Chain of command or other games I play but Wings was perfect as it has honesty aspects and suited her (modern) concentration span (I'll work on the later).

Thanks again and hopefully I'll meet some of you chaps at Warfare.

    Tally ho!

    BALM (Andrew).

Many of the factors which attracted me to the game as well Andrew.
Also the fact that you can set it up play a couple of games and put away all in an evening with plenty of time for chatting and a drink or three without feeling rushed.
