Default Carnage on the Mountain 2016

Next up for me is Carnage on the Mountain. Carnage Royale 19 is in Killington Vermont November 4-6.

I'll be running two Wing of Glory WWI games there.
Saturday 8am-noon, Dawn of Aces. A free for all with ace skills for every player.
Sunday 8am - noon, Over France 1918. An Entente bombing raid by the Independent Force, HP 0/400s and escorts opposed by the best the Kaiser can throw at them.

Saturday evening I'll be running a convention game of my own design. You either pilot a grand liner, Titanic or the like, across the north Atlantic in a race from Southampton to New York. Or... maneuver a pair of icebergs trying to show Mother Nature still rules the high seas.

You are being very busy these days. Same weekend as Fall In. Keep us posted.

Yes, unfortunately the same weekend as Fall In. In the past I had regularly gone to Fall In. I've probably only missed a couple since Fall In started. Drive to Fall In 7 1/2 hours, drive to Carnage, 4 1/2 hours, hmmmmm. Time to start to go to Carnage!

It actually makes sense as I am going to many of the New England (and near) shows trying to build up a following. Had a fine young man join in at Ft Devens. A very good pilot. I hope to see him and all the others again at events in the future. Council of Five Nations has a strong Wings following I can always count on. My games at Havoc usually sell out. Had a very good showing at Huzzah this year, which is very exciting. The past two years had been slim on Wings players. I'm sure if I keep at it the numbers will increase.
Sadly I know of no local shops that carry Wings. It would be nice to have a shop to game at.

3 days to the start of Carnage Royale and 4 to Wings of Glory Dawn of Aces. I'm checking all the bullets this week and making sure each plane has a full fuel tank. I sure hope my Prius can tow two HP 0/400s behind it up into the mountains of Vermont!

Morning's battle was furious. Two pilots got 3 kills and one had 4! Of the 8 only one survived with his original plane.
Sunday morning we will have the Independent Force on a mission well behind the German lines. HP 0/400s and Caproni Ca.3s carrying a load of eggs
to drop on some key positions. We'll see what the Germans have to say about this.
    Photos will be posted later.

Looking forward to the reportage, Peter! Glad you had a full table for today's game.

    All the best,

Had a great time at Killington Vermont. A well run all around gaming convention. All genres are present, role playing, board games, miniatures historical and everything else under the sun and above.

My Dawn of Aces game had 8 eager pilots vying to be the top gun. ( I should have brought the roster sheet with me so I could have given you his name!)
4 kills to the top pilot with two others closely behind with 3. A buddy of mine who is usually a very good pilot was having a so-so time until near the end of the session and in a 3 card sequence shot down 3 planes! He was flying a SPAD VII with Acrobatic Pilot and Lucky pilot ace skills.

Started off fast and furious with s fire on the first card drawn. Even with the fire this pilot was the only one to have his original plane when the session ended.

Looks like this Albatros DIII is in a pinch but he ended up shooting down 4 planes before finally getting shot down with 10 minutes left to play

As you can see we were getting the best out of the extending magnet tool altitude stands.

A friend of mine made Fenway Park a few years ago and we made a miniature game to play on it.

I have a Titanic game I run once in a while at cons. You either captain a great liner racing against the other liners from Southampton to New York, or you maneuver a pair of icebergs trying to stop them. It doesn't look like much but it is quite a bit of fun. Next I will modify it for U-boats and convoys.

Sunday morning 3 had per-registered to play but none of them showed up! Luckily I had 3 others willing to play. Well, 2 willing and one I coerced into playing. Here I met Jim (in the orange hat). He hadn't yet played Wings of Glory but had the starter set and wanted to watch to see how it ran. I gently persuaded him to fly the Handley Page )/400 by telling him he had no choice and had to fly it. The other pilots were a good friend of mine John from Schenectady, and a new pilot Nora.

The HP was struggling mightily with 2 engine hits, both gunners out of action, one pilot incapacitated and the lone surviving pilot wounded.

Missed it by 'that' much. Jim got within 3-4 cards of getting across the lines. His plane finally succumbed to the Schuckerts.

Great stuff, Peter! Looks like everyone had fun in the games you ran - and I must say I am intrigued by the Titanic game... A sub offshoot sounds interesting.

By the way, seeing your WW2 stuff at Origins this last year encouraged me to dive into TANKS, and I've picked up several to be going on with...

    All the best,
    Matt

    Really interesting stuff, Peter.

I have a friend who is a Titanic freak who would probably like your game idea.
The Fenway Park also looks really good.

I've toyed with the idea of making a working scoreboard. It can be done but time at the moment I don't have. Maybe for the next time the Red Sox get to
    the World Series.

Thanks. All involved I think had a great time. Jim should be joining us here after his great ride in the HP 0/400.
I can't wait to see how your tanks come out.

My Titanic game is very simple but a very tactical guessing game. It's designed for conventions and 12 players. There are 6 ocean liners and 6 pairs of ice bergs racing and wrecking havoc across the north Atlantic. The ships compete against the other ships while the ice bergs compete with all the other bergs.

Sadly only once have I had 12 willing participants. Whenever I do coerce someone to play they are pleasantly surprised and enjoy it.

This time around I had 5 players so each had one ship and two bergs. We had a double winner as one guy won with both his ship and bergs.
One player asked if I would be running it again next year so I have a Titanic groupie!
