Default Youtube Documentary - The Forgotten Bomber

An excellent documentary on the Bristol Blenheim, one of the most important early war Allied bombers sorely missed in the current WGS lineup.

Am I the only one who hates the way the first-edition extended-nose Blenheims looked (part slanted, part bubble)?

    Thumbs up

    Thanks Carl for that link.
The Blenheim did sterling service in the RAAF in the early part of the war.

I saw one at Shoreham many years ago when working at the air show, the replacement for the one seen crashing in the video. Sad to hear it crashed too a few years later but they have another flying now.

I really enjoyed the interviews with Blenheim aircrew. Particularly the one about the first squadron to convert from Hawker Hinds to the Blenheim Mk.I - just goes to show how adhoc the RAF's training and procedures were in the 1930's.

    Nice documentary.
I have three of the Zvezda models which are quite nice. Haven't flown them in anger yet though!

I have one Blenheim Mk.I and four Blenheim Mk.IVs. Unfortunately like Reg they still need to see table time.

    Hi all,
I'm the proud owner of 2 Blenheim Mk.I's by AIM (which battled succesfully over the South Chinese Sea sinking Japanese transports and fought in North Africa against the Italians, bombing a desert fort ).
I also have 3 Mk.II's (zvezda), one of them battle ready (but not used yet ) and the other two still boxed.
    cheers,
    Guus

    Nice paint job there Carl.
Do not currently have any pics but will try to remember to take a few shots of them at Doncaster 2016.

The Mk.I's now carry squadron codes FX (No 62 Sqn RAF, based in Malaya in late '41 / early 1942), individual letters F and H.
I'll try to take some (better) pics of them and post them here.

    Cheers,
    Guus

    .
Great miniatures Guus, those Zvezda models are very nice.

I bought my metal RAF Blenheim miniatures from Helmet back in 2009 before AIM or any other 1/200 scale versions were available. The plastic and resin versions finish much better.

The documentary gave me several ideas for historical scenarios. When I design one I'll post it in the WGS Mission Discussion forum.

There is also available a 3 dvd set, called The Blenheim Story - The Forgotten Bomber. You can find it on eBay, if you are interested. The documentary may be part of that.
