Default HEREWARD WARGAMES SHOW 2016 - Sunday 4th September

Simon (Maverick) has asked for some support this coming Sunday at the Hereward 2016 show in PETERBOROUGH. Is there anyone who is able to attend / willing to help. We have two tables allocated to us, so Simon will look after some Sails actio on one table whilst I will cover off WW1 on the other table. Is anyone else able planning on attending as two table between two of us will be a little full on? There are not many shows in the East Anglia region so would be good to be able to reach out to that part of the country...

Here are a few photos from yesterdays show.
I only got to play in the last game of the day, but I understand Chris had as torrid a time as I did with Sails.

A BAD DAY AT THE OFFICE FOR THE RFC

Surprised and delighted by the last minute arrival of Tim and his endless supply of everything except SAILS, we quickly decided on a 1917 based encounter Camels and RE*s against Albatross DVa's from Jasta 18. In the initial absence of any willing bystanders I toof the RFC and Herr Flying Helmut naturally took the side of the dastardly Hun... but things were fairly evenly balanced.

    Here comes Jasta 18

Here we see the Hun marshalling his forces....

    Name: IMG_3094.jpg
Views: 188
Size: 204.6 KB

and before long battle was joined - tally ho chaps !!

    Name: IMG_3095.jpg
Views: 185

Excellent wingman work from both sides - good tight formations

    Name: IMG_3097.jpg

and that's about the highlight for the RFC as no longer had shots been exchanged than we had a problem

    Name: IMG_3098.jpg
Views: 177
Size: 148.9 KB

That suddenly got a whole lot worse...

    Name: IMG_3099.jpg
Views: 183
Size: 105.9 KB

    Formation flying became formation flaming....

    Name: IMG_3101.jpg

Not that Tim was gloating in any way shape or form....

Reinforcements however were on hand a charming young lady joined the plucky RFC (ooh good a show, small child - bound to be an ace within minutes) - swiftly into the fray

Outstanding close flying by Tim and Jasta 18 (or is that a lucky near miss???)

Capt. Hedeby's incredible flying skills really put to the test here as he skilfully toys with two opponents, leading them a merry dance through the clear skies over the trenches...

    crap - I am now

    Name: IMG_3125.jpg

Even the punters were now more than happy to bitch slap me at every turn, I eagerly searched around the hall for some support, but alas there was none to be found. Only one course of action left to me now - whip out my Bristols !!! Now we are going to see some revenge...

Oh you have to be kidding me....

I say chaps the Hun is flying one of our kites - we simply can't allow that, and anyway smoke is no real issue, could be worse, at least I am not on fire again...

I think the word I am looking for is.... Bugger

Disaster day for the RFC (well for me anyway, zero kills, lost about half a dozen, ribbed by Tim and punters alike - good job I am think skinned, lol)
Not a bad little show though good venue - just a little short on wandering customers, think there were more displayers/retailers than there were people to play, but hopefully come next year the word will have spread and we will have more people. to point the finger at me and laugh.

Thanks again Tim for a. turning up, b. the use of your outstanding planes and c. for not laughing too much at my ineptitude on the day (oh on seconds thoughts scrap the final point)

I would say no chance but as Tim will most likely have the two Biggles Sisters flying with him - I feel I am doomed, I will be as a bleeding man in a sea of hungry sharks...

Not those ones, they can't! They were made by Peter (Teaticket) [and very nice they are too!]

The crash marker is a Litko/Games Workshop combo.

Brilliant AAR Chris, and a stern reminder why I opted for Sails on the day.
I well remember what the Helmut is like with his fire breathing Jasta.
I always thought Fire Engines were red.
Heaven help us all if he ever took up Sails. Burning ships everywhere!
    NO SAILS! please Tim.
