Default The Early Bird - Who's a Lucky boy then!

Some people believe in fait, some people think its just luck...
and some where in between is probably about right?

I am not one for boot fairs, but living where I do if you ever
drive between Matlock and Alfreton you have to pass a place
called Tansley and they have a boot fair every Saturday & Sunday.
    and on Bank holiday Monday's.

So for some strange reason I couldn't sleep this morning and so
with nothing better to do, I decided to take myself off to the
    boot fair this morning.

The site is enormous, must have been well over 300 pitches
and row upon row of stalls all on the right slope of a field
makes it even more interesting a challenge!

So after about six rows up and down and nothing of interest
    I spotted this...

    It wasn't alone...

He had a companion in the air

So I took a closer inspection

    on the bottom inscribed;

RAFA ' The Royal Airforce Association'
entitled 'A SAFE RETURN' by Jane Hart
    Manufactured by Danbury Mint..

Now were the two aircraft the same size as WoW spitfires
At first appearance they looked a little smaller,
with out one to compare it with.

How much £3 ! - naturally it would have been rude not to!

Blow me down when I get it home....

They are identical size to the WoW example I have!

Here are a couple more pics of the Aerodrome

So if it is fate or luck.

    I certainly 'feel' lucky..

    So the bar to celebrate
The first round of sludge is on me guys!

    What a great find Simon.
That will certainly enhance your WW2 Games tables not to mention the extra Spitfires.

Received this book a few years ago that I just dug out due to your lucky find . . . lots of great photos of the crews and the airfields.

This one looks familiar to yours . . . I would suppose the architecture was similar in those days . . .
