Thread: Osprey announces 2017 releases

    Default Osprey announces 2017 releases

Osprey have listed titles that they are bringing out in 2017. Those of interest to this community are:

Nakajima B5N Kate and B6N Jill units
Junkers 52 bomber and transport units
    SM79 bomber units
Luftwaffe Emergency Fighters (X Planes what's-ifs)
    JG53 109 Aces of 1940
    JG1 Aces 1939-45
    Allied Jet Killers of WW2

Sadly nothing planned for WW1 by the look of it. I'll just console myself by the fact my copy of the FW200 Condor Units is on its way. All we need now is a nice 3D model of a Condor (hint, hint )

Didn't Condors recon as far as New York?

    Cheers Gunners.
Two of those will go on my must have list and only one is Italian.

No -- that was the Ju 390 prototype. 32 hours from Mont-de-Marsin to 12 miles from NYC. Only done once.

Doesn't AIM make a Condor, Steve? Thanks for the heads-up on the up-coming releases...wish there were some WW1 books in the mix...

    All the best,
    Matt

Sadly not Matt, otherwise I would have been all over it by now. I'm hoping AIM may do so in the future, as Dave is re-mastering some of HBM's models, and I know Ron did one.

Perhaps that's what I was thinking, Steve - I knew AIM had picked up a bunch of Ron's planes...

    I'm sure you'll have one soon(ish).

    All the best,
    Matt

http://www.flyingmule.com/products/MP-5812 -- 1/200 Lufthansa FW 200. Sold Out on that site, but there's a few on eBay for not-completely-stupid prices.

regarding Condors, while my father was in Canada, after Navigator training and before returning to Blighty, he flew Condor interceptions with the RCAF in Wellingtons (the bomber not the footwear) from Prince Edward Island.

    Lest we forget

Hadn't noticed this before but looking through some books I found a book, ANOTHER BOWL OF KAPUSTA, that I bought at a show 5 years ago. I forgot all about it until I saw what books are in the pipeline. Its about Gottfried Dulias. I have attached a scan of the book mark I got with the book. As you can see he was in JG 53.

Has Osprey covered many of the WW1 planes in the past?

There is a lot in their 'Aces' series as well as a few on specific British and German units, and the 'Camel vs Fokker Dr1' type dual series. I guess they might have run out of subjects - anyone for 'Martinsyde Elephant Aces of WW1'?
