Default Spiel'16 - Games Fair in Essen (Germany)

    Anybody going to the Spiel'16?

    We go there every year.

This year the Spiel'16 is from October 13th to 16th.
The convention is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday to Saturday (October 13th to 15th) and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday (October 16).

We will be there on Friday (14th) and maybe Saturday (15th).

What to expect, if You visit SPIEL and COMIC ACTION?

    SPIEL '16
SPIEL '16 with COMIC ACTION - the world's biggest consumer fair for gaming - offers its visitors a one-of-a-kind opportunity to see, sample and test the complete international games program. In 2016 more than 1,000 exhibitors from 50 nations will make this show so unique. Gamers from all over the world join the largest meeting of the gaming scene. Publishers, authors, manufacturers, and devoted players gather here to share their experiences, check out the latest developments and introduce new products to the wider public.

On more than 68,000 square meters of exhibition space, all kinds of games are on display, ranging from family, adult, children and parlour games to strategy, mail, adventure, fantasy and science fiction games to video and computer games. Naturally, game classics such as Chess, Go, Backgammon and Bridge won't be missing.

SPIEL provides an extensive range of fringe events: All exhibitors invite you to join in the action at their tables - just try the unknown, enter one of the numerous competitions, or watch exciting demonstrations!

Families will find a world of adventure for their kids. A huge variety of high-quality toys just waits to be explored - and a special hall is being turned into a playground with climbing areas, juggling, an XXL tabletop kicker, a bouncy castle, and much more.

SPIEL in Essen means: Four days of fun, meeting friends, and a chance to try out thousands of games and novelties just in time for the holiday season. Convince yourself of the quality of the international games market and feel free to buy your favourite ones!
(Quote from the organizer's site http://www.merz-verlag-en.com/)

I hope this year ARES will have lots of products at its booth, because the German distributor "Heidelberger Spieleverlag" have not interest in selling WoG products.
So the last 2 years or so ARES fortunately have startet to have more and more of their products to buy at their booth. I'm looking forward to this years Spiel'16

    Anyone else going there?

    Sascha.

I got note from Ares that they will try to offer a better selection of the WoG planes this year at their booth.
    This is great to hear
You can find Ares at hall 3-Booth E-100 this year.
    I'm looking forward to it.

    Will do
I just saw the first pictures of the Ares booth at the Spiel'16 and amongst other things I did
see a preview of the Battle of Britain Box on the Ares Facebook page.
Let's see what else there is to find.

    OK - have fun.

    I'm curious.

Unfortunately my budget for travelling is empty again this year.

Upcoming new SoG series 3 and my annual Gold Membership bill will exhaust my reserves.

    Have a good one Sascha.
I finally just got my printer to print a cardboard Mates box for the set of movement cards this evening.
It did not like the thickness.

And I love your creations, Clipper! At our Gioco & Storia convention, the Ca.4 has been a blast and the Zeppelin the best insigna for Wings & Sails of Glory tables.
(by the way, I hope you got my PM last week).

I did and thanks! Did I ever tell you the wings of the Ca.4 are made from plastic 1" window blinds? There were 6 built as my first WOW efforts years ago, one went to Keith at the web site, a second to AZ, one to Europe, one to NZ and the last is here with me . . . at one game I flew three in formation at one time, they took an enormous amount of mat to turn : )

May I add my thanks to those of the lads.
What a super period we are in for.
Just had the WWI set, next the Sails, and then the BoB.
    Well done all round.

Back we are from the great SPIEL16 fair in Essen. This year we had a really great time there.
I have just read that the fair had a record breaking 174.000 visitors (around 12.000 more than last year)
and 1021 exhibitors (around 60% from abroad).
We vistited the fair on Friday and had to make a second visit on Saturday because there was so much to see that we couldn't make it in one day.

I also have to make Ares a compliment. They have really brought a lot of great stuff to buy and their booth was well visited.
You could get a lot of models that were already sold out in other shops (like the Halberstadt DIII or the Airco HD2).
The scouts for 12 EUR and the 2-seaters for 16 EUR. They had all of the giants, the duell packs and even Gothas )
They also had a lot of stuff from WoG.

Here are some impressions of the Spiel'16 fair in Essen.

The perfect show would be the UK Games Expo at the NEC, one day maybe

That would be the perfect venue Chris. On a par with Essen.
