North Sea, 25 May 1917: Having bombed the English port city of Folkestone and shaken off pursuing Home Defence squadrons the Englandgeschwader continued the return journey across the North Sea to their bases in occupied Belgium. Alerted to the returning raiders were the Dunkirk based RNAS squadrons that took off to provide the Gothas a rough reception. Patrolling 15 miles north of Westende a flight of four Sopwith Pups of ‘Naval 4’ including Canadians Flt. Sub-Lt. Arnold Jacques Chadwick (2 victories) and Flt. Sub-Lt. Langley Frank Willard Smith (4 victories) caught up with the German formation, attacking one of their number.
This WGF historical scenario is designed for 3 players (with variants for 2 or 5 players) and fields a Special Bomber pack Gotha G.V (Aschoff) and two unofficial Sopwith Pups, which if players wish to use official aircraft can be replaced with Series 6 Sopwith Triplanes.
