Cpl. McTabbish: Lt. Getz, Lt. Forbes would like to see you and these other three at his tent in 5 minutes.

Lt. Getz: Tell Lt. Forbes we will be on our way shortly. Do you know what he wants?

Cpl. McTabbish: Something to do with a mission.

Sgt. Misere: In this weather boy?

Cpl. MC Tabbish: The Lt has the details.

Lt. Forbes: Let me commend you on the job you did this morning on the photo recon mission.
Because you did such a splendid job we have been asked to now bomb three of the Hun positions you reconned.

Lt. Getz: When are we supposed to do this?

Lt. Forbes: As soon as you get your gear together or 10 minutes after this meeting is over.
Gentlemen our Canadian allies are massing for a big push and want some obstacles cleared. There is a large concentration of troops, a new set of trenches, and an unidentified object. The troops are number 1 with the Trenchline number 2.
Lt. Getz, you and Cpl. LaClaire will take the RE8 and 2Lt. Finch and Sgt. Misere the DH4 that are being warmed up. I will accompany you in a SPAD and running interference in case any Hun show up. I will also try to identify the targets for you.
Gentlemen we may have two hours before the ceiling drops on us so we need to get in, do our job and get out. You shouldn't have any trouble with ground fire, the rain should have the troops dug in.
Get your gear and let's go.


Report 10 November 1917 1300 Hrs

To: Sir Arthur Currie Canadian Commander near Passchedaele

Sir, your path is now clear of any additional obstacles found during the photo recon on the morning of 10 November 1917.
At approximately 1030 Hrs I took off with Lt. Getz and 2Lt. Finch and their two seaters for the Passchedaele Ridge.
Lt. Getz and I went around the North side while 2Lt. Finch went South. I quickly identified some new trenchline and Lt. Getz started his bombing run.
I saw three specks coming from the East , Hun scouts. I quickly moved on to the next location but found nothing there.

2Lt. Finch found a troop concentration and started his bombing run.
Two of the Hun planes flew past us as if we were invisible in the rain.

2Lt. Finch reported dropping their bombload as a third Hun flew by overhead.

Lt. Getz and Cpl. LaClaire partially damaged their target and as the enemy were on the far side of the river they circled around for another pass. I took a shot at a tan with red striped Albatross (4) that crossed my path.

Lt. Getz reported the Hun near him could get out of each other's way (collision 2,0)

Lt. Getz and Cpl. LaClaire dropped the remainder of their bombs on their target destroying it.

That must have alerted the Hun to our presence because they attacked us and we defended ourselves.

Lt. Forbes: Cpl. McTabbish send a car and the M.O. and a Corpsman to pick up 2Lt. Finch and Sgt. Misere, they landed about 2 miles West of here in a field. I believe the 2Lt. Is injured.

Well played Dale, your boys got in and got the job done but it seems that engine damage did for your DH4 letting the Hun close up and give it a beating on its way out. At least they landed the right side of the lines.

Well done old chap - little confused by your Butchers Tally as it seems you applied E&E mods to Finch's crash result so I corrected it. Finch is more banged up than you thought; as you didn't post what you rolled originally I had to randomly choose between 3 or 4 and 4 was the result.
I take it I was missing some +1's on the DH4 as only 13pts showing and his damage is 15 ?
Beckmann has been credited with the kill by Onkel.
