    Default Jasta 39 on the Italian Front

    Jasta 39 : Albatros D.III was send to the Italian front in 11 September 1917
    Jasta 39. - Albatros D.III OAW (colors may very well be in red and white)

    Oblt. Josef Loeser - diagonal black or red stripes

    Unknown - Black and white vertical stripes with blk line lengthwise

    Unknown - Black fuse with thick white lengthwise stripe

    Regarding the three losses of Jasta 39 in Italy. They occured on 4 Feb 1918.
    The comander Oblt Josef Loeser was lightly WIA
    Vfw Rudolf Wiesner was KIA at Vittoria.
    The third loss was Uffz Dierenfeld who was WIA.
    Lt Hövelhaus of Jasta 33 was wounded on 12 April.

    do you have any furhter pics of these planes (esp. the first unknown one you mentioned)?
    do you have any idea about what the tails color may be? it looks for the pics both planes have the same paint pattern in their tails (not Looser's of course) and it may very well be the 'Squadron's Marking' (you know, like Jasta 5 were green tails with red edges)

    I'm doing a re-painting and I like to do Loeser's red-white stripped D.III plus two wingmen

    I posted a query on the Aerodrome Historical to see if there was any info on this Jastas ID colour.
    A reply came back in the Negative. As there were only 2 Jastas operating in that area at the time it was not considered necessary.
    I have now asked if there are any details of individual pilots markings.
    Will advise when I get a reply!
