Jasta 31
Royal Prussian. As one of the original German fighter squadrons, the unit would score 35 verified aerial victories, including five wins over enemy observation balloons. On 11 September 1917, it left the Western Front for service in Italy. It returned from there toward the end of February 1918. Between 25 October 1917 and 20 February 1918, it racked up 14 victories in Italy. Of the 8 German and Austro-Hungarian aircraft lost on 26 October, only 2 were single-seaters (both pilots from Jasta 31 being wounded).
In August 1917 Jasta 31, began receiving Alb. D.V machines.
According to TJP the Albatros's had natural varnish finish on fuselages, mauve and green camouflage to upper wing surfaces and light blue underneath.

CO was Leutnant Zech: transferred in from Jasta 1 on 6 September 1917 - promoted out of unit on 18 May 1918.

Alwin Thurm (5v) - Later in 1917, he assumed command of Jasta 31 and scored 4 more victories before he was shot down in flames by Raymond Brownell and Henry Moody of 45 Squadron.
