    Default N11s and the 82

    11 Apr 1917 activated equipped with 9 N11s the CO was Giorgio Pessi and deployed at S. Caterina and assigned to X Gruppo.

    25 May 1917 the 1st Sezione moved to S. Caterina. It shared the airfield as the junior member with 91a and 70a.

    09 Jun 1917 ten. Fochessati became the CO.

    Jun 1917 96 missions with 4 air combats

    02 Jul 1917 cap. Pietro Cavdini became the new CO.

    1st half 1917 was starting equipping with N17s

    07 Sep 1917 Fochessati returned as temporary CO

    01 Oct 1917 serg. Gaetano Aliperta was seriously wounded in combat with enemy fighters.

    26 Oct 1917 serg Pietro Zanatta had an accident and captured while at the hospital.

    28 Oct 1917 unit had 8 N11’s and 1 N17 and moved to Pordenone

    05 Nov 1917 unit moved to Arcade

    07 Nov 1917 serg. Agostini Buttazzoni was shot down probably by Buttman of Jasta 1 in a Hanriot but, managed to return to his unit.

    10 Nov 1917 unit moved to Istrana and got equipped with the Hanriots and had 12 pilots. They were ten. Fochessati, Avet, Comandone, Pirelli, Rossetti, s.ten. Resch, Riello, serg. Benvenuti, Contardini, D’Urso, Poli, Teobaldi and sold. Panero.

    26 Dec 1917 lost 4 Hanriots on the ground

    1917 unit flew 889 missions and engaged in 49 air combats

    09 Jan 1918 unit moved from Istrana to S.Pietro.

    29 Jan 1918 magg. Ferruccio Coppini became the new CO

    22 Feb 1918 sold. Panero crashed while taking off in a Hanriot and died later.

    Feb 1918 N11s were phased out

    I just wanted to share info about the upcoming release of the N11 and how long it was in service.
    Macchi-Nieuport built 450 and 93 built by others. 1916 to early 1917 35 to 45 were built a month until superceded by the Nieuport 17. By Feb 1918 only 22 in service.

    Thanks John. The N.11 stayed in service much longer in Italian skies than over the Western Front. Unlike the RFC Italian squadriglia often had long transition periods in changing over to new models. Some for instance in late 1917 would have a flight of N.11s, a flight of N.17s and even one of SPAD S.VIIs.
