Palestine, 5 March 1918: About 1000hrs two Bristol F.2Bs of No.1 Squadron Australian Flying Corps (AFC) were conducting a reconnaissance over the village of Jaljulia near the Mediterranean coast. Piloted by Lt. Eustace Headlam and Lt. Charles Watt with observers Lt. Edward Beaton and Capt. T.C. Macaulay MC, the two-seat fighters were attacked by five Albatros D.IIIs of German unit Jasta ‘Felmy’.
