    Default Reporting for Duty!

I'm an old grognard who has been gaming for more than 40 years. That said, my eyes are still keen, my reflexes snappy, and I'm eager for a go at the Boche. I stumbled across Wings of War: Famous Aces through Noble Knight Games, and fell in love soloing with this system. I'm looking forward to learning from my betters, hopefully through the sharing of those bottles stowed securely in the bottom of my trunk.

    Yeah, Doug!

How did you miss all the players in your neck of the woods? Big Con coming up... Get out and play!

Welcome from the Sahara of Wings of Glory, here on rainy Vancouver Island, Canada.

welcome to the 'drome, Doug! Yes, there are quite a few of us in this area. A few guys in Plainfield - Joliet, Bloomington, Rockford and even some cheese heads in Milwaukee, Kenosha, Madison and surrounding environs. I'm in Aurora. We usually announce a get together every couple months. for the last several years I have run a few scenarios at What-Khan (formerly known as Rock-con) in Rockford in late October. Hope to meet you soon for a little flying!

Welcome to the game and to the Aerodrome Doug. Thank you also for teaching me the correct spelling of Boche which I had been mis-spelling Bosh until I saw this!

Age is but a number and you will find this as you spend more time on here: Same as distance in miles is but a number too to Community Members. What we value the most is that you have joined and what you are able to contribute as you play is always very welcome and appreciated. You'll be delighted to hear that you are indeed located in an Activity Hotspot - though if you live in a Wings of Glory Desert (WGD) you would soon discover how well this game lends itself to Solitaire / Solo play (best learning opportunities) ready for when you do face a live opponent

G'day Doug & welcome to the Forum on behalf of the Pilots who fly in NSW down in Australia!

Good WW2 "handle" you have chosen there!

Thanks for the welcome. Please serve yourself from the virtual Ladaig single malt on the table. How bracing to find myself in such an active theatre! I'm looking forward to learning more about it.

Tres bon, Gully! I am indeed partial to the ol' Vibrators of the USN. Although these days, I spend more time over the Western Front, this was my moniker on the ancient online forums for FASA's Crimson Skies air game.

Thanks again for your warm welcome. I was just able to order my first minis: a Sopwith Camel, Fokker Dr I, Aviatik DI, Fokker D VII, DH 4 and SPAD XIII. Hope I can use them with the Wings of War rules... I also picked up WoW Watch Your Back.

Definitely a good start with those planes. Watch Your Back will be helpful and give you scenarios for your DH4.

Greetings, Doug, from the Ohio Squadron (in my case, the Akron portion thereof). Many of us are frantically getting ready for Origins in a week

Yeh, I have the set of WizKids clicks to convert to WGS/CS. Not high on my list, but it's still there

Without a doubt. I just had the pleasure of meeting more than 20 of our members at Origins... without a doubt, some of the friendliest and most welcoming people I've ever met. I tip my cap to all of those fine competitors who made it out to Columbus... especially those representing the BGIF and other local groups. What you see here is but a reflection of how they are in person.

    Welcome to the 'Drome!

Reporting for duty. Just joined last week. Have been reading forum for some time. Very helpful and friendly. My young son and I play WOW and now WOG WWI. Bueatiful and simple game with hidden complexity which is great for both of us. We just received Burning Drachens but it was the French Language Version. Will just use the English language instructions I found on Google. Wish they still had the miniatures (drachens). Well, hello. No idea how to enter an avatar yet. Cheers.

Welcome to the Aerodrome, Michael, from here near Norwich in the United Kingdom. Welcome to your son also. Ares games intend to reprint the observation balloons one day but don't hold your breath. In the meantime model observation balloons can be bought from 3D printing companies like Shapeways but they are expensive.

To change your avatar, click on Settings in the top right hand corner of this page. Next click on Edit avatar in the menu which appears at the left hand side of the page. It is then fairly straightforward to choose an avatar on the page which appears.

Thanks to all. I reside in the NW Suburbs. Yes, I too have read about reprints and reissues of the drachens over the years but understand it may be a very small niche for Ares Games. I fell in love with aviation as a kid reading books like Warbirds, the autobiography of Rickenbacker, the Red Baron, Falcons of France, and They Fought For the Sky to name a few. My little son and I also collect and use (gently) the miniatures of past and present. Always admired Mr Lufbery since he did so much and Mr Rickenbacker thought highly of him. I look forward to a great experience on the forum. Thank you all very much.

Naharat thank you for the Avatar answer. My son is asleep so I will wait to let him have input as he is very excited to have a plane that is his. BB401 and Vindicator thank you as well for the kind words. We moved to Illinois from Kansas in 1969. Still here. Cheers!
