Thread: Your Part of the World - Go Outside and Take a Photo!

  1. #1

Default Your Part of the World - Go Outside and Take a Photo!

Wings of Glory is an inside game - even a slight breeze plays havoc with the cards and chits! We have seen plenty of shots of forum members' gaming rooms but not many images of where we live in the wider world. Today I was taking my morning constitutional and snapped a shot of the Manly Marina on the Wynnum foreshore - about 2 klicks from my front door.

    Manly Marina, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
    1100hrs Saturday 28 May 2016, skies clear, temperature 24 degrees C.

Your mission should you choose to accept it is to go outside, take a photo of your part of the world and share it with the forum.

(And Barry Gully_Raker, I really want to see a tractor in your photo!! )

O.K. This one is really looking outside. A family of Kangaroos regularly graze my front paddock in the afternoon!

Nice rustic setting Barry. Reminds me of my folks' old place in the Brisbane Valley, Roos in the front paddock every morning and every evening. Tractor looks like a nice ride- 'go fast' red and all!

Not my photograph's but ones taken from my regular cycle route across Pevensey Marshes looking west(ish) toward the South Downs. The tags on the power lines are there to prevent swans flying into them

Another shot from the same route looking south(ish) towards The Channel

And last Monday I was sailing past these cliffs - 'the Seven Sisters' between Eastbourne and Newhaven

Sorry to remove my posting but I just came to my senses! Revealing my home location or giving clues as to how it may be pinpointed ... Could end in tears.

There are as it happens a great number of 'lurkers' on this site who join and then don't do much afterwards: Nobody really knows who these people are. Or of their intentions.

So before I come back from Manchester Airport over the next two days to find my three prize Avro Vulcans misappropriated I'm removing all clues as to where I may be broken into whilst not at home ...

Nothing like being near the water Carl. I grew up in sight of the ocean.

Being on the edge of nature is wonderful Baz. Love your pets.

Great countryside Dave, and those cliffs!

A walk in the woods is always wonderful Andrew.

    Great oasis Mike.

Nearby to where we live there are some blueberry fields. In the fall they are spectacular.

Not as scenic, but it is close to home. Not recent, either, but the local Air Base hasn't changed much. The Snowbirds still come every year, the special guest in the linked photo has returned to Washington, with no plans for a return, at least in the near future.

O.K. Folks blame this on Carl!

My 1936 Farmall F12 which a couple of club members & myself restored a few years back.
This was its first outing at the Moruya Jazz Festival street parade & a before & after shots.
Sadly I had to sell her after my leg problems but she is still in our club owned by a local member.

OK ... I agree that I was maybe being a bit uncool and heavy! Here is a revised contribution from me with a little help from my friends at East Midlands Airport / Antonov!

East Midlands Airport is located 14 miles away from where I live in Derbyshire. Though I have no decent photos of it to hand the Antonov An-225 Mirya also visits East Midlands Airport: This is the world's biggest aircraft.

Windows 10 will let you remove any personal information. Save the picture to your hard drive. Right click and go to properties; then to details. Toward the bottom you'll see a link to remove information. After clicking that you should be able to remove most anything about the picture.

Thanks Ken but it's more the visual clues as to where my and for that matter an aircraft collection which I chose to have insured two years ago can be found. Cannot believe I let my judgement slip so drastically ...

Windows 10 just messed up Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 / FS9 completely when it installed itself automatically last week. Had to revert to using Microsoft Flight Simulator X Deluxe Edition which eats up oodles of your hard drive and despite all the boom ting only seems to function on relatively cartoon-like settings! So if you are an FS9 fan and have yet to upgrade to Windows 10 ... My advice is DON'T!

A captive audience there Andy. While I try my best the only people who want to play in the locality want to play Scrabble ,

Definitely it is a fine game! Even my parents play it, but they treat it more like a crossword game, without all the bonuses.

Rob thank you very much for your help on this one I am usually TONS more vigilant than that! All clear on the stored images front.

I would absolutely LOVE to be able to take photographs of my repaints and appropriate aircraft collection members in the sunshine on the window sill up in the attic. But unfortunately there is a road sign visible out of the window which could be identified.

It's not just me - you should see what I have to abide by in order to keep my collection insured. Over where he lives Jon Convey who introduced me to the idea insured his OO Gauge model train collection and had to be careful of what he placed online as the direct result. But his house is like Fort Knox: Just as well as he has been collecting model trains now since 1970 and I do most of his Triang / Hornby Triang / Hornby and Lima vintage repairs for him. In 2011 I painstakingly rebuilt the front of a Hornby Class 86 electric locomotive for Jon after a crash which he then had professionally resprayed ...

You are lucky Andrzej, I was raised in a smaller town and the sense of community is something to be valued.

The letters have got to be different values for the Polish version yeh, French version has 10 pts for a K and Y , only worth 5 and 4 respectively for English version

I suppose it had to come with all those Klingons at Cons & Cos Play events.
I have a Klingon dictionary & "How to Speak Klingon" but think I will give the Scrabble one a miss.

Lovely shots Neil. The old soldier in me thinks 'good tank country!'

Funny that after I finished wearing the green skin it took me years to stop looking at ground from a tactical perspective - where would I place my machine gun to cover likely enemy approaches with the enfilade grazing fire, where to set OPs, defilade positions, etc.

16 years later I can now appreciate a beautiful vista for exactly that.

That's funny, Carl, because every time I drive through western Ohio (similar view), I think the same thing. And me with only wargaming experience
