Yes Chris - Established in Dubai in May 2016 though our main Operating Bases are Derby / United Kingdom and Brisbane / Australia. I had the idea whilst I was staying on the Palm Jumeirah which is largest of the man-made islands in the shape of a palm tree on which is the Al Saray hotel.

Anyway speaking of Derby in the OFC: Oil Flying Corps workshop the first two of four Wings of War Kuznetsov Edition Hawker Hurricane Mk IIs are undergoing a transformation. First though the trick is to blank the crudely painted Soviet Air force logos topside along with the two more carefully presented logos on the underside. Exactly what these are all set to become has yet to be decided and the plan to paint one of them green / grey has been ditched on the grounds of historical inaccuracy.

But this last photo I am including actually comes from March 2016 shortly after the Hammerhead 2016 event at Newark. Because of the 279 Air Sea Rescue Squadron RAF Spitfire Mk II I had just finished painting in it. Still is an absolute masterpiece IMHO and my greatest success in painting to this extent to date ...

Sure Neil - But I uploaded 65 instead of all 150: A.net wouldn't allow that many as I am only a Silver Wing Member - oh and the photo of Danielle standing under OO-TSC as it came into YBBN isn't there either. It is on my noticeboard though!

Peruse these beauts in the meantime though - they will be shooting down the opposition at a nearby location soon: Hawker Hurricane Mk IIs 275 / N and 277 / N of the OFC: Oil Flying Corps with the last photo showing the Ni.28 we currently have in the workshop here ...

Of course not ... It was a hint to back off actually because I am not entirely sure that you are interested in looking at my aircraft sightings. More like looking for photos of Yell?

Chris I hope this puts an end to the confusion over the OFC or Oil Flying Corps ...

OFC: Oil Flying Corps - Established May 15th 2016 in Dubai UAE. Affiliate of Flyfactors UK covering historic and vintage aviation as well as the war game Wings of Glory. Staffed by three individuals in Derby UK and Brisbane QLD Australia. Operating jurisdiction for two Hawker Hurricane Mk II aircraft marked as 275 / N and 277 / N with jurisdiction required before the OFC put a Nieuport Ni.28 into operation. Name inspired by RFC or Royal Flying Corps in World War 1. Organisation motto is Facta non Verba (Deeds not Words) and organisation song is Ten Of Our Opponents In The Air. Strongly linked to Chopper Squad via Flyfactors UK which is handy for when anything requires an air ambulance to attend ...

Speaking of 275 / N and 277 / N they have both seen action on May 28th 2016. Sent out on patrol with broken cloud reported in that particular sector they met with 279 Sq Air Sea Rescue Supermarine Spitfire Mk II P8031 who informed them that engineers were already on the scene and fixing it. I've taken five Sopwith triplanes apart for rebuilding with the wings spaced correctly. Progress will be slow as I'm cleaning and priming metal figures for winter 16/17. The primer I use is brilliant on hot days and will go on extremely thinly. It's rubbish in cold weather but nasty stuff – too nasty to use in the house. As result I'm building up a pile of ready-to-paint castings. I felt like doing a bit of figure painting so I did one today.

Tim I am relieved to see your painting mojo appears to be returning

Pardon me but the aircraft towards the left (under the Vallejo 70.810 tube) looks as if it has a rear-mounted engine ... Otherwise it and your others are looking just great!

Shapeways Albatros DIII (late version) - the engine is in front of the pilot, the prop comes attached to the tail; when you finish painting, cut off the prop and stick it in the correct end!

Glad you like them - I'll be glad to finish them and move on to the next batch - I'm so far behind schedule!

Much less confusion now -- tho' I'm wondering now about the roundels on the Hurricanes; definitely not UAE markings... so is that the OFC roundel?

It is the OFC Roundel though I'll have a hard time producing any more like this now that I am out of decals. A slightly modified OFC Decal may feature on the final Hawker Hurricane I have pipelined (pardon the pun!) which looks more like the UAE insignia and this aircraft 272 / N will be making an appearance very soon although it's not the Bader Hawker Hurricane I picked up recently c/o Richard Seville - that BEAUT will remain unpainted being the rare that it is.

June 2016 likely to start with the Nieuport Ni.28 being completed behind which are two Dewoitine D.520s ... Which could at this rate be heading for Germany.

The colours are White / Dark Blue / green. They are based on the most commonly used colour codes used on Hydraulic Fracturing (or Fracking) maps: White representing no activity whilst green represents a hotspot. Two shades of blue are used to represent locations which look promising and then a darker blue for locations of exploration programmes. The only other colours used are black for layers / boundaries and annotations and red if a dormant geological fault is located and mapped as this is potentially dangerous.

Ah -- clarity arrives. (I confess to knowing very little about the details of oil extraction; "science was never my strong point", as Mr. Scaramanga once said. >:) )

And with that info: I am now picturing the OFC as a Middle-Eastern version of the AVG -- a group formed by the oil companies to defend their interests, who managed to get hold of some Hurricanes.... (I write fiction; go figure.)

Nothing in May, surely nothing in June as well. Crap.
Summer months are not the best time for me to work on new models. Hot and sunny weather drives us to spend time outside (sun-tanholics). Fall and Winter - yeah, time for model making.

Simon your rigging looks fine - like the way you describe it as a bit agricultural though as I am always saying that too

Try OO gauge model railway telegraph pole wires as they are fairly flexible and can be cut to size. Hornby don't make them but others like Javis of Stockport do.
