    Could anyone direct me to the following paint mat h please;

I am after matching the Ares/ Nexus Mitsubishi Zero non cam version to a commercial paint. With failing eyesight I'm useless at getting a match even a close one. At this rate I'll have spent more on paints than planes.

    Cheers in advance Neil

Presumably you talking about the grey and not the green one?

And are you going to send me a copy of the dragon?

Will send copy tonight. Is the colour grey? Man my eyes are shot. The one with the red band or blue digonal stripe zero. Not the green Camo one. I'm trying to at ch without mixing myself a commercial colour if possible.

OK, I'll dig mine out of the loft and take a butchers tomorrow. Got an idea either Lifecolor or Mr Kit will have their version of the colour. Again I'll need to dig my paints out and compare.

So, comparing it with the Nexus Shindo Reisen, the nearest match I can come up with is Mister Kit Sky RAF. It's near perfect for touching up the existing paintwork, but for some strange reason looks a shade darker when applied to a white undercoat so might need a touch of white added to it.

Life Color's Nocciola Chiaro has the right tonal quality, but needs white added to get a comparable shade.

Thanks very much for that, Steve.
I've been wondering about such a paint match myself.

Picked up a Humbrol 90 after seeing it on a 1/72 zero pack. It's very close and I'm using that now.

and just to add, paint dry what started out nice is now a light shade of green. So I've mixed Humbrol 90 with some light grey and hey presto, close enough to what I want.

All's well that ends well then Neil. Have to say, I can't remember the last time I used Humbrol paint.

Same here because whatever it stated on the tin it always seemed to dry gloss! Made some of my WW2 1/72 kits look terrible ... Switched over to Revell acrylics and then to Vallejo which I feel knocks the living daylights out of cheap nasty Humbrol stuff!

Neil, let me provide you with a piece of advice. Since I am a camocolour purist (blowin my own trumpet) as far as modelmaking is concerned (not when it comes to repainting game minis) I own a few profile books on WWII schemes and colours used. Those are mostly Polish from the 90-ies, published by painting geeks. One I have handy is "Japan Fighters. History and Colours", by S.Grzesiak and S.Łada. They took much care to recreate the proper colours using Federal Standard and Humbrol references in tables.
The colour of light grey you are asking is defined as:

N.10 - Japanese standard, used from the beginning of 1940 overall plus black engine cowling,
    364592 - Federal Standard. http://www.federalstandardcolor.com/
And now Humbrol: 8 parts of No. 64, 1 part of No. 156 and 1 part of No. 28.

I used to measure the paints in drops.
