Thread: Sails Mat for WW2

    Default Sails Mat for WW2

Myself and my father (Muttley) have recently started playing WW2 and because our favourite conflicts are Malta and Battle of Britain we want to do it round the coast, we have a coastal map but would also like to have the conflict over the sea we were thinking of placing a sails mat next to the coastal one, does anyone who have both think the Sails mat will match the colour of the sea on the coastal mat (it doesn't need to be an exact match but close enough not to look strange would be nice)

    Cheers again Rob

the sails mat has white lines running through it for positioning. If you can live with that its Ok, its a little deeper blue also.

I have used a Sails mat in conjunction with the Coast mats a few times.
The colours are not identical, but are close enough to serve the purpose - most folks are concentrating on the minis anyway!
I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!

It is the exception which helps me to prove the rule!

When I use it, it is a WINGS Mat!

For those of you on this side of The Pond, Jo-Ann Fabrics sells a dark blue vinyl they cut to order... I picked up a 6'×4' piece for just north of $20. Gotta love those coupons!

I got one from Joanne's as well - although mine is not vinyl.
    44" x 72" cost me about $15.00

It's in action right now for OTTED Mission 19 aka "Sink the Submarine"
(just finished turn 4 - to be continued Monday or Tuesday)

I use a dark blue GI wool blanket found at the local army surplus store. Benefits include planes don't slide around for those extra-close fire-stick measurements, and the fuzz replicates waves (for those us with ageing eyes...):
