Thread: The Late War Campaign

  1. #1

    Default The Late War Campaign

We are closing on the end of the OTT Early Doors Campaign so for those interested we will be starting a new late war campaign, that has the working title of OTT - The Bitter End Campaign, which will commence on June 1st 2016.
I'm happy to provide the full admin for those that play and have been preparing documents/threads to assist us with that.

To that end for those wishing to join this campaign pick your side/theatre, PM me names for 5 scout pilots & 2 x two-seater crews as your starting roster and leave the rest to me.

For this later period if some people want to stretch the storyline of the Bulldogs further then we have no objection to there being French or American Bulldogs, or, Italian or Naval ones (up to April 1918), come to that, and even A-H Eagles !
We are also open to having our usual format of committed players being augmented by part timers and drop ins so that anybody can jump in and have a go when they like. Hopefully this will encourage some of our formal notables to re-enter the fray, even if only for a mission or two, as well as giving rookies and some of you lurkers a taste if you want it.

For the info of all Players:
There will be two games to each campaign month eg 7th & 21st April 1918 but we will still only play 1 game a month.
This means that for the final 12 months of the war we will get 24 months of gaming, we also get longer use of some of the kit and if you only want to play every other scenario then you'll still get in a game per campaign month. This also lessens the impact of longer injury times for pilots and crew
As usual, all those that play are expected to provide a scenario (or two) at some point.

Please check the Bitter End rules sticky, particularly you old campaigners as some changes have been made to the Crash and E&E results.

    Entering the grinder this time...

    flash - Dave
    diceslinger - Shawn
    fast.git - Chris
    Roland19 - Joe
    gully_raker - Baz
    BB401 - Bob
    Stumptonian - Pete
    Teaticket - Peter
    F.O.Kyte - Rob
    Tikkifriend - Paul
    Setarius - Dale
    Brisgamer - Carl
    Willi - William
    Archidamus - Brian
    Kinsale - Michael
    mikeemagnus - Mike
    Dragonfly - Sverre
    7eat51 - Eric is a possible

I will add to this list as I hear from the pilots

First scenario will be posted late May for campaign starting June 1st

Actually, I have been playing since last fall - started with Mission 11, flying for The Eagles.
Played Mission 18 yesterday - just have to get the results all sorted out. AAR will be up later this week.
Hoping to get the "Squadron Killer" Mission 19 Escorting Trouble done today or tomorrow (while SWMBO is away )

9 Eagles v 4 Bulldogs at present Neil but not all Eagles are full time and not all the current Bulldogs have PM'd me their intentions yet. I can always swap back to the Bulldogs if it comes to it.

I could fly for the Bulldogs as well. I've flown for both sides, and like them both.

    G'day Dave!
Will you be doing up a new Spread Sheet for "The Bitter End" Combatants ?

Please dont feel any pressure as I know you still have to Finalise the ED results.

Many, many thanks for all the work you put in to these Campaigns!
I reckon you deserve an Aerodrome Campaign Adjutants Medal!

    Hi Barry,

Dave has started new spreadsheets for 'The Bitter End'. Go to the 'useful link' post with 'The Squadron/KEK/Jasta Spreadsheet' under this thread: http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/sho...Campaign-Rules

Thanks Carl but I have a link to that one which is for the current Early Doors Campaign.

I presume Dave will do a new one as that one ends with Mission 22 The Last Waltz.

It's on the same sheet Baz off to the far right but under construction so a bit of a mess - nearly got the RFC side of things done but still waiting on those dratted Huns to catch up before I can finish their side as I'd like it .... easily spent over two hours more on it all yesterday morning, starting with yours funnily enough. When it is near done I will link it to the Bitter End rules thread.

    Thanks Dave old mate!
Dont make a rod for your back---just take your time.

OK found the button under the old one so Thank You again.
I think I will need a couple more Huns as 3 of mine will be out of action for most of the first few missions.

No worries mate, I 'got into it' a bit that was all ! We'll see what the first mission brings but I hope to get everyone off the mark with at least three fit pilots ! A Ltn Richard Schneider has been moved to your flight of Eagles to help out.

As our pilots are attrited (KIA, Captured, injured and out for x scenarios) I would assume that at some point, replacement become both inevitable and necessary to continue operations. Should we provide you with a stable of pre-created replacements, or is there another process in place to generate them?

  31. #31

We advise Dave of our replacements when necessary - he gives us the enemy ones from his "stash".

Pete is spot on of course Bob, by all means have a ready roster of your own on standby for when the need arises.

    Hi Dave,

If a player wants to plan a mission can they volunteer, or do they wait to be selected?

Volunteers are always welcome Carl - you'll get the opportunity to do two or three in the course of the campaign ! Peter & Chris have the first two outings, what did you have in mind ?
Note of caution - don't write your mission until you see what the chap before you has submitted his, you'll be surprised how great minds think alike !

    Default More CP Awards

And another thing - in addition to the silver Pilots Badge (PB) awarded to the CP pilots for their first kill - this will be extended to the scoreless pilots for completing three sorties without loss.
There will also be Air Gunner Badges (AGB) awarded for the two-seater gunners first kill and an Observers Badge (OB) for completing three observer type sorties (ie arty spotting, photo recon, recce).
I will do my best to keep track of all this but if you think your pilot/crew is lacking anything then give me a nudge via PM - I have tried to apply it retrospectively to the ED crews going on to the Bitter End.

It's a pilots badge, they occur throughout the CP, I won't be expanding on it further than that Carl but you'll know what they are when they crop up.

If anyone, particularly the new chaps, want to flex their AAR muscles during the down time you can always have a go at the OTTED Christmas scenario "Caught With Their Pants Down" (an extra between 18 & 19)

My mission is in the AAR already. Used my newly received Staaken in the scenario. Just ran Mission #21 Strafe the Trenches, will have the write up on here in a day or two. And plan on doing Mission #22 Ambush shortly. Looking forward to the Bitter End Campaign.

If we should have a result that seems to contradict the availability of pilots for the now completed mission 22, how would we resolve that?
