2016 GATHERING OF WARBIRDS

The 26th Annual WWII Weekend airshow will feature many familiar friends as well as some exciting new additions. Among the returnees are FIFI, the only flying B-29 Boeing Superfortress in the world, leading a squadron of a dozen bombers. Nine fighters will scream around the Reading sky including two first-timers: the rare Messerschmitt Bf-109 and the De Havilland DH-98 Mosquito, the fastest piston-driven aircraft of the war, both from the Military Aviation Museum. A bevy of transports, trainers, utilities, and "L-birds" round out the roster of airshow performers.

For the second year, The World War II Airborne Demonstration Team will be jumping from the Curtiss C-46 "Tinker Belle" on Saturday and Sunday. Don't miss this opportunity to witness an authentic WWII paratroop drop right before your eyes on the KRDG mid-field.

As always, our one-of-a-kind P-61 Black Widow will show off her latest restored components on the ramp. Click on the Airshow Roster bomb-link to the right for the whole list and photos.

TAKE FLIGHT IN YOUR CHOICE OF ELEVEN FAMOUS WARBIRDS

From a Stearman to the Superfortress and virtually every class of warbird in between, you can make a dent in your bucket list. New on the roster this year is the aerial workhorse of the Allied forces, the Douglas C-47 Skytrain, called the Dakota by UK forces. The Yankee Air Museum's beautiful "Yankee Doodle Dandy" a regular at our show, will be selling rides for the first time. All the details, schedules and prices are available via the Warbird Rides bomb link.

(Looks like you can ride in a Hellcat or Dauntless! But it's the price of my mortgate)
