Hi Folks
You may remember me signing up to join the Aerodrome on February 28th this year - my best friend's birthday in fact! I reported for duty and received a ton of welcome messages from across the globe.
Now I have my Rules and Accessories pack and two aircraft I can begin to get my head around the playing of this wonderful game. I chose to play WGF instead of the other games available as my true inspiration is my Great Grandfather and his service in 2 Squadron AFC and 4 Squadron AFC during WW1. By WW2 he was involved with the Queensland and Northern Territory Air Service and so my connection and inspiration is not so strong. Though I will see WGS and get to play it one day though!
I think what I want to say is thank you very much for the warm welcome and for the encouragement I have received from members in Australia. This feels like a proper community which has taken me on board and allowed me to be myself in the process of playing and learning the game. As well as learning the history aspect given my inspiration too: WW1 was a far from pleasant experience and is now thank heavens part of a bygone era.
Elsewhere I have encountered stigma and some really ignorant attitudes which I mentioned on here. To be told that real life begins at home with Wings of Glory ... Toughen Up but in a friendly understandable way ... Don't let the male chauvinists grind me down! Amidst the same posting I made quite a big Typo! Which members laughed about with me instead of laughing at me for making it.
There are not that many members I have noticed in Australia and New Zealand who post stuff so I would like to say a huge thank you to all of you. Would drop some names but I don't want to miss anybody off the list - I think you know who you are anyway when you read this. However I would like to mention Zoe Brain because I feel she is an inspiration to us all and maybe I will meet her one day at the CANCON Event.
Thanks Again!
