Nice factory operation. Saves a lot of time when you can repeat the process on similar models. Great job! Love the squadron.

    Amazing squadron, Rob!
    I'm speechless.

    Very "elvish" indeed! Yea!

Thrilling! You may look at this process chaps and then you know how Nightbomber does not repaint his minis. It is too fiddly for him.
    Excellent report Rob

    Super stuff, WingCo!

    Love the home-made decal sheet!

How easy were the wings to get off? I have only tried this once, with a Pfalz DIIIa, and it fought me all the way!
Freeze/boil/freeze/boil/freeze/boil and FINALLY it broke free.

I must echo this sentiment! Both the great stuff from the WingCo and my difficulties with the freeze/boil method of wing separation. Oddly enough, they seem to break pretty easily when I drop them...

Thanks for the "How To" Rob. I really must introduce myself to this "decal paper." Are they traditional like traditional "water slide" decals, or more like stickers?

    Well done, Rob!

    Very nice, Rob.
I'm with Andy on this subject, although I do have a couple of extra Goerings to redo.

I wouldn't dare try to do the lozenge work, though.

I have a friend who's very good at modeling, so I may have to commission some work ....

To try and answer your question Tim.
I freeze for as long as I can. Two days if possible. Then drop into almost boiling water. The cold aircraft brings it down quite quickly.
Out of the boiling water after about five minutes and into cold water to shock the joint again. Then try to ease the wing off one set of struts by gently prizing it upward. If no luck, try the other end. One will usually go, and then the rest will pop off one after the other.
Note that some planes are easier than others. The DVII seems to be quite easy to do.
    Hope this helps.
    Rob.

Great stuff here, Rob! Thanks for the play-by-play pictures with your template for the lozenge decals. Lends a great light on how to tackle these decals applications. And your planes turned out wonderfully...

    All the best,
    Matt

Far too scared of breaking the model to tamper with wings etc. I shall leave it to the experts - good job Rob

I'm far too lazy to go through all that.
