Default What twoseaters did the Italians use?

We have a lot of A-H and Italian planes now. The next series will bring us the A-H Phoenix Scouts.

The Austrians can use the Gothas and have their UFAG two-seaters, the Italians only their Caproni Bombers.

Have you searched the official Nexus card sets, Sven? There the answer should be found think I.

    SAML: 657
on production figures, that 23 were built in 1916, 448 in 1917 and 186 in 1918. All those in 1916 would be SAML.1s, one presumes all in 1918 were SAML.2s. Which leaves the 448 in 1917 which would have been a mixture of 1s and 2s, the SAML.2 entering service in about late summer 1917.

    Thank you, John.

Hope we see one of the Italian twoseaters in the next WGF series.

Would be an idea to ask Andrea for them at the Summer Con.

That's not a bad point, Sven. Seems to be one of the holes in the line.

Found them in the "watch your back" Expansion.

Nice twoseaters. Some with only a rear MG.

    Interesting.

Most of these are available from Shapeways if you are interested. And if you are not into the modeling side yourself there are elves available . . .

    Nice list, John.
I would add to that some foreign designs:
    • I'm not sure how many Macchi parasols were used. Probably just 1915 only.
    • Nieuport 6M: flew with 4 squadriglias a couple months: May 1915-mid 1915.
    • Blériot 11: six Squadriglias until Dec 1915.
    • Farman M.F.7: 8 Sq., replaced by 1916.
    • Savoia built a lot of M.F.11's under license before starting with the SP2's, 3's and 4'.
    • About 100 Voisin 3's were built under license, withdrawn in 1917.
    • About 250 Caudron G.3's and 51 G.4's were built under license, withdrawn by 1918.
    • S.A.M.L. also produced the Aviatik S.2. They are interesting because they are license-built copies of German Aviatik B.I and B.II's. It's rare to see a design cross "over the lines" over like that.
    • And the S.V.A.5 was the most common two-seater from Ansaldo.
