Thread: Giants Play Area Size

    Default Giants Play Area Size

I'm curious to know what the size of play area is for the scenarios that came with the Giants?
Or, what minimum/recommended size area do you all think is necessary to play these?

    Thanks

I'd say three would do it Brian - though these chaps extended further than that !

You could always use a scrolling mat ie use two & move one as you get to the edge.

    Been there, done that:

And an actual (if virtual) game, using a scrolling map:

I created a pair of 2.5’ x 6’ French countryside mats, which can be used separately or placed side-by-side to make a 5’ x 6’ mat. (See my post today 2-17-16.) Vistaprint can print 2.5’ wide vinyl banners in lengths of 4’, 6’, 8’, 10’ and 12’. A potential idea for a bombing run might be to make an even longer mat and scroll it on a shorter table by rolling each end.

    Edit 2-19-16: I made a file for a 2.5' x 12' French Countryside scroller mat.

I printed the file that I made for the 2.5' x 12' mat.
I don't have any of the giants (yet) but the mat works well scrolled between two dowels on a flat surface.
I think would work well for a long bombing run . . . even for WWII bombers.
Perhaps the next version should be over the channel, the countryside then a city.
    Here are some pictures.

That's very nice Tim, could be wider but what a great idea !

The width (30" or ~76cm) was dictated by the size banners available from the vendor I have used (Vistaprint). It is slightly wider than the narrow dimension of the official mats. The longest wider banner (48" or ~122cm) they make is 8' (2.44 meters), about 1/3 shorter and a lot more expensive.

Perhaps, I will eventually take up the challenge make a file for a wider (if shorter) scroller. . .
