When was altitude first introduced, and was it retrofitted?

Okay, that's possibly a confusing title for a trivial couple of questions I'm curious about ...

When WoW first came out, it was a card game with no altitude rules, right? And altitude rules weren't released until the third set, "Burning Drachens," right? So were climb and dive cards also released with the third set that would allow the aircraft from the first two sets to also use altitude rules?

Note I'm only talking about WoW, not WoG. I don't own any of the original WoW sets, so I'm just wondering about the game's history.

yes thats correct. cards only at 1st. then minis added and then altitude with burning drachens with altitude cards for watch your back and famous aces.
