Default Reporting for Duty from the North East

Hello - I've just bought in (may have gone a little crazy - I've picked up 24 planes so far) and I've yet to actually play a game. Looking forward to getting a few missions under my belt.
I'm based in Akron, but do most of my gaming in the greater Cleveland area. Warzone Matrix and Critical Hit primarily.

edit - I come bearing gifts. I posted an article in the Historical Discussion area for WWI containing lots of Aerial Reconnaissance photos from the Great War.

Welcome to the aerodrome from a fellow Buckeye who lives in Dayton. I do have a daughter that goes to Kent State, any good game stores in the Akron area?

Welcome to the Aerodrome Nathan from across The Pond. I'd call 24 aircraft and your Great War posting an excellent start!

Make yourself at home and relax - anything you need please just ask as we are a friendly and a global community who look after new members & FNPs - fairly new players. We also have a number of Members located in Ohio in fact around last Thanksgiving Day it was very much the place to be in terms of Members events and games

Nathan, welcome to the Drome...Ohio's other pilots will be tapping in shortly...one of the larger groups, Buckeye Gamers in Flight (BGIF) will provide plenty of opportunities for you to fly and join in epic struggles.

Are you leaning into WGF or toward the dark side, WGS? Either way, am sure we'll have opportunity to swap lead at some point.

If you haven't already picked up on it, Origins 2016 is fast approaching, (Columbus in mid June)...ample events for both WW1 & WW2...also, we (BGIF) host events in early October in Dayton at the USAF National Air Museum's event, "Dawn Patrol Rendezvous". Hope to see you at one or both.

In Akron proper, there are a few to choose from. Underhill's is the place for Boardgames. The owner really knkows his stuff. JAC is pretty much the cult of 40K, but the staff is friendly. I haven't been to either in some time because most of my gamer buddies are in Cleveland. There was a dedicated store in Kent, but I believe it's closed now. Kenmore Komics has a good selection but no room for playing and the neighborhood is... questionable.

Thanks. I'm hoping to make origins this year, depending on the availability of babysitters at home. So far I've just bought in to WWI.

Welcome to the 'Drome, Nathan! Though, your "North East" reference threw me off a bit... was hoping for another player in the neighborhood.

24 is a solid beginning... but beware the slippery slope!

    Thumbs up

    G'day again Nathan!
I did welcome you in your post with the aerial pics.
Looks like you have already connected with many players around your area.

Welcome to the Forum, Nathan! As Thomas mentioned above, there are quite a few Ohio players, some up in your neck of the woods, in fact...
Some of us from SW Ohio occasionally trek to Columbus to play, too, but we have regular games at a hobby shop here just south of Dayton if you ever find yourself in our area - the next one is on Saturday, 13 Feb....

This is a great place to spend time, share information, and get inspiration - I'm sure you'll enjoy your visits

    All the best,
    Matt

Welcome to the Aerodrome, Nathan, from here near Norwich in the United Kingdom. If you have already bought 24 aircraft models, it sounds as though you have caught the 'Wings of Glory addiction'.

Welcome to the 'Drome from, well Akron
I'll admit I don't game locally much, since I work early and Saturdays, but we should get a game together sometime. Glenn(Jago85) is also local to us (Tallmadge).
You're spot on for the local shops; John at Kenmore is quite friendly, and where I get almost all my in person purchases. He'll order anything you could need.
A couple of options for a game: the NE Ohio board gamers meetup group has a monthly meeting at the Quirk Center in the Falls, and another at the Nordonia library (Northfield). Those are Saturdays, so I'm not a regular at either.
North Ohio Wargamers Society (NOWS) holds 2 mini cons a year in Berea (the next is 24-APR), and I run a game there; another fellow started running WGF too, so the last one I ran a WGS. Their large yearly con is in Sheffield Lake, the sweekend after Dawn Patrol IIRC.

I'm late to the game, but welcome from Ashland! We have a few people in the Ashland / Mansfield area who play. If you're on Facebook, you can join us at https://www.facebook.com/groups/CanvasFalcons/
