Jumping the gun just a bit? Wait, what day is it in Australia?!?!
Slowly making progress on R.IV and R.VI.
I might be able to finish one before the official versions arrive.

Nice John, very nice
I'm learning to fly, but I ain't got wings
Coming down is the hardest thing
Those bombers are looking splendid by the way
Yep. Gotha G.V STILL on the bench. Might leak into March at the rate I'm going.

She is fully decorated, now time for completing the rigging.
Working on a WACO CG-4 for a friend in 1/72 scale to fill in the "waiting to dry" moments on the GV.

A loud roar just over the horizon, announced the impending arrival of something great, something big, something horrible this way drones, ever closer . . .
What can it be? An approaching Apocalypse? Four distinct roars combine into a one roar, ever closer it comes . . .
Four horses? NO! WAIT! The fluttering of an great wing, a Staaken?
No! It cannot be true! Only rumors! Yet . . . something is coming indeed!!!!!
The horror! The power! The destruction!
It is here! The DREADED WOODSTAAKEN!
The work of idled hands, or is it idoled hands?
Stop the madness!
David, I'm sitting here laughing my ass off. Great job!!!
ACE!

That's superb, David!
I'm still chuckling!
Very, very nice David
My wife and I just went to see the "Snoopy and the peanuts" movie and thought it a hoot ! We were the only adults in the cinema though
cheers,
Guus
btw: any news on my "order" ??

Just starting my conversion of some Russian Hurricanes & the Belgian Spit to BoB British & Polish squadrons.
I hope my fingers are up to adding the tiny Squadron ID letters.
So the color of the day at the Clipper Dome is Rust-oleum American Accents Satin heirloom white!
This is the color I have been searching for to replicate clear doped fabric on my WWI planes! CDL for some of you! I am liking this color and this particular brand of spray paint is VERY heavy in terms of pigment solids which makes it a great sealer, primer and final color for my latest Shapeways projects!
It also happens to be the same color as the frosting on these banana brownies I made between the TWO coats of spray that was all that it took to fill the WSF pores and make my Staaken R.IV, Brandenburg G.1s and sails look great! Love this color and love the way it fills! Not as much as I like these brownies though-although it seems wrong to call such a thing a brownie when it has no chocolate . . . hm
Woops! NO SAILS! I know . . . sorry . . . yummmmmmm
Good info, Dave. Readily available at Amazon and the nearest Big Box (Home Despot out here)... and just in time for my heavy-handed attempt at my first Shapeways purchases. Of course, Ares could just release a couple of new Series in the next couple of weeks obviating the necessity for such acts of desperation...
Okay. The phrase "obviating the necessity for such acts of desperation" is clear indication that I am up way too late...
Night, gents...
I bought the paint at Wal-Mart . . .
Due to my club not getting a table at Salute, I am no longer painting horses and drivers like there is no tomorrow . So instead I can get on with something sensible:
- 8 Typhoons
- 1 Anson
- 1 Me163
- 1 He162
- 2 Ta 152s (which should have been ready for last Doncaster )
- 2 Me262 1a
- 2 Me262 1A/U4
- 2 Sea Hurricanes, and
- A couple of Kingfishers which might have to wait.
Run for your life - there are stupid people everywhere!
I've never tried building a Gundam before. Great fun to build. The kits are brilliant. You could spend weeks pimping it, or it's great just put together in an afternoon. Have to read the giant robot fighting rules now.

What no Lozenge decals Ian ?!

Ha! Too many curved surfaces
From this coming Friday my workbench intends to swing back into action and a chance find on here not long ago may provide all being well a perfect start. The are 1/600 scale though and I have something similar in mind for these as I once did with an even smaller set of 1/700 aircraft when I served in the forces. Watch this space - more TBA as I have to make sure they are still available first!
There are some wonderful contributions in this thread so far - particularly liking Snoopy Woodstock and the group of Hawker Typhoons whish are featured above.
Expanding on my painted Genestealers for Spacehulk as I have been wading through the Edition 2 scenarios this last week, slow progress so far.

On my bench is still work I can't show you until after the contest finishes, but that should be all done and dusted tomorrow or Tuesday, so I will then get back to the Italian job.

Wow! Talk about a concerted Zeppelin attack...Mrs. Clipper is one understanding Better Half!
Love seeing these beasties "under construction"...
All the best,
Matt
Setting aside planes for a bit. Since this year is the 50th anniversary of Trek, I must run a Trek rpg, so I must finish painting more Trek minis. Ships in the foreground; 15mm Klingons and Romulans in the background.
Those single engine babies are Scouts (note the lack of phasers and photons on the upper deck of the saucer). I do have a handful of Destroyers, and another handful of Dreadnaughts, and two handfuls of Cruisers, but these are the minis on my table at the moment.
Getting close to finishing a set of 6 AIM Devastators. Going to need these for Coral Sea and Midway games coming up. Then will start a couple of Shapeways Zeppelin Staakens since my ARES ones are taking their sweet time getting to me. My Cold Wars battle will have Staakens flying one way or another!
As soon as the planes arrive I will be starting a few repaints of P40's for the Origins scenario about the Dutch Harbor 1942 bombings.
By the way, I believe brownies with no chocolate are commonly called blondies.
Great to see the Zepps in process.
I finally took the time this week to revisit my von Richthofen bust - he sat in grey primer for the longest time, and then back in December I started the face, but I wasn't happy with the way it was going...so he sat some more until our club Paint Night this past Wednesday. I 'felt the Muse' and decided to take him and fix his face. Here he is so far.
The face is 99% done - I may do a couple of tweaks, but overall I'm rather happy with it - and the hair is almost finished, too. Then on to the hat...
Now that I'm liking where it's going, it will be easier to spend time working on him. I will post a picture of the box art so you can see what he's 'advertised' to look like - I'm not going to do him just like the box art, as I don't think it's correct. But more of that later...
As always, thanks for looking!
All the best,
Matt
Looking good, Matt.
What scale is that ?
Micro dinos welcome the Fokker DVII home from the painting contest exile : )
Valentines elves did the roses well too! Gotta keep Mrs Clipper happy!
The Zep elves made good use of the 90 degree weather to do some filling and sanding outside
And the navy elves got some action in today too! Busy day home . . .
Good thing its a 4 day weekend here : )
Pete - the bust is a 200mm kit made by Alexandros Models...
Thanks, Rob - I'm looking forward to working on him now that I have his face looking better than it was. The inaccuracies with the kit are rather easy to fix - the only 'construction' issue was shortening the Geschwaderstock a bit - it is way too long - and doing some sanding to change it from a drum major's mace to the blackthorn stick von Richthofen carried. The other issues are simply paint color choices.
All in all, it's a nifty little model!
All the best,
Matt
Looking forward to seeing the finished piece.
Looks like it's in good hands.
Ridiculous talent alert! I continue to be in awe of the work down by some forum members. Just. Ridiculous.
Can't wait to see how the Zeps, Tin Cans, and MvR turn out!
Goodness, Bob... what in God's name do you have planned? Crackers, SPAM, a "Leatherman"-type multi-tool, and...?
I did that in my younger days with the 5th Inf Div !
