Thread: The perfect drink for a WW1 game!

  1. #1

Thumbs up The perfect drink for a WW1 game!

Whilst I was away in Queensland for Christmas my daughter Jenny & husband Geoffrey brought me a couple of bottles of this fine South Australian wine.
Just perfect for refreshments during a WW1 game especially if you are fighting the Flying Circus.

I've found that gin usually does the trick... but I'm always game for something new!

Barry! What a perfect bottle! I love it old chap!
I see a chain of medals on it. Must be great. Fox Creek - is it an Austrailan vinyard? I am a heavy wine drinker, so could you please reveal more of the wine's origin?
    Please!

I have tasted it. It is very good
I have a sweettooth for shirazwines but with this one I must confess that it was the label that made me buy the bottle in the first place.

I shall have to try and find this, Barry - we are red wine fans here, too!

    Thanks for sharing...

    All the best,

I don't drink much wine but I would try that because of the label.

I hope when it has 80 medals on the bottle they still keep producing it. Have to see if this gets imported to the States!

What's up with your search fu Andy ?! http://www.foxcreekwines.com/ and http://www.foxcreekwines.com/our-wines/red-baron

"The Red Baron is enjoying continued success at Fox Creek. This suave character has taken control of some of our best shiraz vineyards in McLaren Vale as the original 'Red Baron' took control of the skies. Like the wine he is rich in character, distinctive and silky smooth and is guaranteed to woo any nearby vixen."

Apparently it goes down well with Australians !!

    Hi Andy!
Yes its a South Australian wine from McLaren Vale & I see flash has posted a link for you.
Interesting to see it is being exported & Loop has tried it & enjoyed.
You might be able to track down a bottle in Poland.
If you open the "Red Baron" link you can access a list of International Distributors. There is one in Germany & I noted that the UK distributor is named Tilley. Wonder if he is related to our very own F/O Kyte?
We get Polish Jams here at Woolworths & they are great.

You have been able buy it herr in Sweden at leased 4 or 5 years. And it has been recomended as a find in several winemagazines.
So I'd say it is worth seeking out
