I like that - cowardice above and beyond the call of duty
Run for your life - there are stupid people everywhere!
I think I will sit this one out being Anglo-Australian with acute bi-polar disorder
Every time I suffer a relapse I turn into Mad Max ...
Rob your YouTube video has more to offer than a "plastic Max" I've just found an idea for a new plane you might likeAttachment 182340 it's called a Sopwith Goat. The plane below is the Mk1, which for some reason I can't edit out of my post!

Dont forget the much sought after Red Max!!
i wonder whether getting set on fire repeatedly and surviving would earn you this..... as the last 6 games ive played ive been set on fire in each of them!!
Should be called Zippo!
Rob
Are they actually selling them in various colours?
The Red Max
That would be a yes, For some reason people will buy almost anything, I could see "Hells Angels" buying these, The Chinese have been knocking out fake medals for years, In the case of some of the "German WW2" badges I've seen the quality of the fakes are better than the originals, that was why I stopped collecting medals.
And now ............................................Attachment 182352
Just to let you guys know, our old friend has returned, In 1952, with the assistance of then President of West Germany Theodor Heuss, the order was again re-established. This time as an independent organization with state recognition and the President of Germany as Protector of the Order. The revived civil order of the Pour le Mérite is awarded for achievements in the arts and sciences. Active membership is limited to 40 German citizens, ten each in the fields of humanities, natural science, and medicine and the arts. Honorary membership can be conferred on foreigners, again to the limit of 40.Attachment 182357
I thought this year's "not have" presents were the "Giants of the Sky" releases?
but I'm old enough to have also been brought up with Darstardly & Muttley on children's TV. From which came the Stop The Pigeon song - the cartoon featuring just these two characters and their seemingly endless crusade to stop a carrier pigeon in a variety of flying contraptions. Darstardly's catchphrases was Muttley! Do Something!!! and Drat ... And Double Drat!
I have three VHS collections - a 90 minutes 'Wacky Races', and 2.5 hour "Bumper Edition" 'Wacky Races', and a 2 hour "Dastardly and Muttley" Bumper Edition (stop the pigeon).
My favourite specialised aircraft has to be the two-plane combination of 'hammer' and 'anvil'; the 'anvil' plane flying beneath the pigeon, positioning the anvil itself directly under the bird, and the 'hammer' plane on his six, slightly higher, aiming to drop the huge hammer onto the anvil.
You can guess how THAT worked out!
You may well laugh Gunners.
Oh! I see you are laughing.

Do they sell them at TK Maxx?
The "Penny" has dropped, I never understood why WW1 planes would fly after a pigeon as a kid (wacky races ) Attachment 182454 I watched "Dastardly And Muttley" (a spinoff of the previous season's Wacky Races) In Their World War I bi-plane in pursuit of a pigeon, the "patriotic Yankee Doodle Pigeon" without a clue as to why a pigeon was so important? there's no fool like a young fool??????????????????
just to turn this full circle and draw all this together with the yellow max, is this guy perhaps a famous recipient of said medal for extreme cowardice?
So a pink version of this medal would be a possibility ... Because one of the Flight Training Establishments I was affiliated until five years ago had a long-standing joke which was involved a paper pink cross on a white background with the wording Poorly Me Right! Involved. Never twigged at the time that this joke could have been based on Blue Max wording - until I saw the close up of the wording in this thread. So for that one and if a pink replication is available I will be looking into buying one.
The joke by the way was based on the 1957 film High Flight if anybody has seen it: Nicknamed a Winchester Cross it was awarded for outstanding acts of ... Gross Misconduct!
Nowadays FTS / FTE jokes run along the lines of: Three shipwrecked sailors on a desert island together discover a genie in a bottle who grants them three wishes. So the first one complains that he is homesick and wishes that he was at home. The second one complains that he is hungry and wishes he to was at home around dinner time. Whereas the third one complains that he is lonely and wishes that his two friends were back with him ...
Good pointAttachment 182456
And now a medal for "Fanta"sist awarded for 10,000 killsAttachment 182982 The world famous Orange max,
With any of these - buy them for Ł1 and they will be useful for shows etc.... so notwithstanding the screaming historical inaccuracy - what the hell...
Never Knowingly Undergunned !!
On my next visit to Newark Air Museum I will remember to look out for these in their shop. They have an interesting badges pins and medals section - if they have them and they don't cost a packet Marion and I will follow your suggestion Chris and grab a few. Need to visit there for an Xmas present so will report back soon on what's discovered.
When I was in the USAF, I heard the story of a unit that behaved cowardly, and as a result, had this patch:
But, here's the true story of the patch's history.
