    ok you handy modelers i need some help. i finally got to working on my b-17s from clipper and a 1/200 model im reworking for wgs. ive been looking for 1/200 decals here in the us and not having much luck. if it wouldnt be too expensive id like to ask one of you whom print your own if you could print some out for me. i need;
8 early us national wing insignia (ie not white bar) with the red "meatball" in the center.
4 early us national wing insignia (again no bar) without the red meatball.
3 black, block letter "U.S. ARMY" underwing insignia
1 yellow 5 digit tail number starting with a 1
"the swoose" fuselage insignia and its mirror image for the other side

any help would be much appreciated!

Do you want the "The Swoose - it flies" bit to be as it was in 1942, or in 1945 (see below)?

I assume standard 60" roundels for wings, 50" for fuselage?

Yellow number on olive drab background?

    US ARMY on transparent background?

This is the kind of thing I mean, just upsized and with meatballs as needed:

yellow tail number (thinking on it i guess ill need 2, i for each side) on transparent background as well as the us army on transparent.

Yellow on transparent only works if the background colour is very light - white or very pale grey or silver.
The US ARMY in black on transparent will go well on anything.
"The Swoose" being white and yellow in parts has to be in "silhouette" on white paper printed with olive drab where the white/yellow bits aren't.

All learnt by trial and error.... an ALPS printer can print white and light colours on transparent film, but if all you have is a colour inkjet or laser, you're stuck with these limitations. Inkjet inks are subtractive - they filter the base colour, removing all but the selected tone.

thats my problem. i dont have a functional printer and a replacement is very low on the priority list. thats why i figured it be cheaper in the long run to farm out a one off project to someone else than buy a whole new printer. i dont think ill have much need for decals and such after i finish this project.

The bomb is marked "2000 LB"

Since the whole thing is about 4mm in diameter - call it 1/6 of an inch - at 300 dpi it would be 50 pixels across, at 1200 still only 200. I'll do what I can, but may have to exaggerate colour differences to trick the eye into seeing details that aren't actually there. I can't make the "It flys" bit readable.

im not looking for every detail at 1/200. i basically just want the bird to be visible and maybe the hint of something written below it. just enough to recognize the insignia
