From Ares....
It's not over until it's over... According to the latest schedule I got from our factory, our "Giants of the Sky" were supposed to be ready to ship tomorrow. Instead, this morning, I found out this was not going to be the case. When I asked for confirmation of the product shipping out now, I got the following reply. Quoting from the factory manager:
"We have some problem at the printing stage for this project. We find the paper is not up to standard when we started the printing process. Finally we needed to reject the paper and order paper from another supplier again. Right now, printing processing just finished and we started varnishing, polishing and embossing. I am sorry to let you know that goods of this project will not ready until Dec 5. "
To be clear:
the models themselves are completed (in fact, since months now!)
all Aerodrome accessories are produced and waiting
Snoopy is patiently waiting on his doghouse
The delay only relates to the cardboard components and packaging, which are delaying the final assembly until the date indicated (December, 5th).
We will keep you updated as soon as the ex-works date is confirmed.
The bad news for all of us is that, due to this further delay, we'll not receive the airplanes in time for Christmas holidays (shipping time from China is 6 weeks on average).
The good news is that we will use 4 shipment hubs, shipping out from Australia and Canada, not just Germany and USA. This will save some time to backers in the Pacific area, and custom charges to our Australian and Canadian backers.
