As the title suggests, as opposed to last time, I selected the Germans to be bounced and the aircraft they would be flying to see the boot on the other foot and to showcase my latest Jasta Boelke Dr.1 - Papenmeyer's in the foreground.
The rest as usual are randomly selected - aircraft, altitude, position.
Top to Bottom Ltns Willi Steinbrecher, Kurt Sommer & Ernst Rübe are on patrol
2Lt George Aldridge in a Dolphin appears at 8; 2Lt Eddy Charles in his SE5a (Z) at 11 and Sous Lt Alan Cardo in his Camel Belge at 10; To their left at 1 o'clock John Douglas roars into battle with his SE5a (G) but a tad late as the Dr.1 all turn left to take on their assailants - but not a shot is fired as they jostle for position
Rübe opens his account catching Cardo as they both execute sharp turns but his guns jam before too much damage is done
Aldridge rips into Rübe as he is trying to clear his guns but jams himself
Cardo is next when he catches Sommer as he Immels and damages his tail
Then they are past each other and the action pauses, briefly.
Rübe trades with Douglas and comes out on top as they go head to head
Rübe gets into Eddy next coming up from below his tail he scores a solid hit and the SE blows smoke
But Douglas has circled back and chops Rübe from the sky
A slightly wider view of my demise - damn that AI !!
Kurt Sommer gets some of Eddy too with a solid long range effort
Eddy Immels but can't return the favour, the Dr.1 soaks up the shots, Steinbrecher sets Eddy ablaze and Kurt gets some into Douglas' SE.
Kurt presses home his attack with a deep sideslip and rakes Douglas' kite once more but his guns jam in the process.
Aldridge gets jammed up again following a long range effort on Sommer
And then there is distance again - Eddy Charles breaks off - his plane severely damaged and ablaze (right)... moments later his SE crumples and falls - a kill for Willi Steinbrecher !
Cardo peppers Sommers' wings
Douglas catches Willi Steinbrecher as he turns back and sets him on fire
Aldridge following Cardo around behind Sommer gets an angle and looses off a decent burst
Then space to breathe again - badly damaged, Douglas takes advantage and makes for home..
Aldridge takes Sommer on head to head and wins that little joust by causing some major damage
Cardo takes on already smoking Steinbrecher and the trade is nearly even
Willi Immels and gets another burst into Cardo
After much dancing by both sets of partners Willi Steinbrecher, his aircraft badly knocked about, seizes his chance to escape and heads for the barn
Sommer finally gets a shot on Aldridge but now it's two on one
One more pass - Cardo scores and Sommer jams
Sommer could be in trouble now but the jam has decided things. He manages to slip away without further entanglement and heads for home
Ltn Ernst Rübe SD-EXP / 0 kills
Ltn Willi Steinbrecher RTB / 1 Kill - driven off
Ltn Kurt Sommer RTB / 0 kills
