Just found this little fellow at the drug store yesterday for $8....and couldn't resist...

AND because I can't leave well enough alone, he's in the process of having the Happy Holidays carved off and being repainted in the 'correct' color scheme of green helmet, brown gogqles, and tan/orange doghouse (and I'm going to add the bullet holes...)

He'll probably carry over a bit into December, so I'll post him when he's finished on the December list that Neil has started (and isn't he a show-off with his impressive list!!)

And THEN he'll find his way to the Christmas tree (which we'll put up in a week or so...)

    All the best,
    Matt

It's bigger than you think. But just as un-beautiful. B-17G shown in background for scale.

You are not wrong - it's an ugly b*****d. Looks like you undercoated it silver. Did this cause any problem applying the top coat, or did you varnish over it first?

That is a good size, Zoe! I love the rich red-brown color - it's very distinctive. Well done, indeed

Looking forward to your Jules Verne...

    All the best,

I added some pledge to the paint - and used 3 thin coats, letting dry each time. Then varnished to seal, otherwise it's too easy to get it scratched.

Burnt Sienna with 10% Neutral Grey. "Chocolate Brown" matched to a sample I'd seen.

    See http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/colorch...rts_france.htm

Just remember that screens don't render it accurately.

Sometimes the simpler schemes are the most attractive, and as the Pfalz Dr.I is one of my favorite birds, I think you nailed it!

Not the most difficult paintwork I've done but there it is.....

Noooo dark side! Heck, we barely have time to enjoy The Great War! lol

Great work, Matt, looking forward to seeing the finished product in person!

It will eventually have the light blue 'squiggle' pattern over the green splinter camo, and you can see the two Fritz-X missles on the base. They will be glued onto scratch-built pylons under the wings (between the engine and fuselage) - the missles arrived Thursday from AIM (along with some other tasty bits!!).

This has been fun to work on and paint - quite the nice little model. I'm tempted to get another from AIM in resin and do up a version with HS-239s...or perhaps I'll get their He-177 and put the Henschel missles on it...

ANYWAY - my first kits from the Dark Side - I'm sure there will be more...

    All the best,
    Matt
