    Default WW1 Custom Paintjobs

Here are some custom paintjobs I've done on my Wings of War planes. These do have rondals now, the Spad XIII is decked out with US, and the Sopwith in British Livery. I've got a Nieuport in Lafayette Escadrille colors and am working on a second for a friend, as well as another custom Sopwith that I will try and upload photos of.

I must admit the SPAD just doesn't float my boat (personal taste and all that) but that Snipe is really rather fetching indeed - seems a bit more understated, and to my eye at least it works all the better for it - nice work.

You have quite a steady hand, and I like the way your planes look. Good job!

That's some nice work Robert! Liked them both. Have you ever seen pictures of the 94th squadrons(USA) SPAD's in their postwar paint schemes?

I was just looking at those yesterday as a matter of fact. I think I'd like to paint some of those.

I did do Cook's Spad XIII (Lightning) for a friend, I wish I had a picture of that as I was really pleased with it.

I have recently finished a Bavarian DR1 which I will post (needs 'rondals' which I have on order).

I like the effect given by using the clear plastic circle to represent the prop in action. Could be a useful idea for me when the youngest member of our household does his usual modifications to model planes.

I love the Bavarian. The lozenge pattern is fantastic.

Well, the Dr. 1's flag upper wing and wrap had to be done a few times to get them right. So, I won't say I'm a painting virtuoso or anything.

Thanks for the nice comments guys. Dom, if you are the Dom of Dom's Decals those are your British Rondals on the Sopwith, and once they come in I'll be putting your French and German ones on their respective planes. Your decals are spectacular, much better than skytrex.

Guilty as charged - glad you like 'em. My next trick'll be getting the mail order turnaround down....
