    Default Greetings...

    Hi All,
New to Wings of Glory, had a couple of games at shows over the last year and just bought "Watch Your Back". Love the game and am debating whether to start with the miniatures, depends largely on opportunities for joining games locally, anyone else from Harrogate, York, Leeds area who is playing regularly and who I might join up with please get in touch. Not a great deal of interest in WW2, mainly interested in WW1

Welcome to the 'Drome, Mark, from Middlesex.

Hope you find some regular players locally.

The U.K. wing will have a team at Vapnartak in York early next year - do pop along, say Hi, and get stuck in to a game or two.

Welcome to the Aerodrome, Mark, from here near Norwich. We do have quite a lot of Yorkshire members, so hopefully there is one near to you.

HI Mark and welcome to the mess. What's your favourite tipple?

As I said in the PM and Tim has confirmed we will be at Vapnartak, York, 1st weekend in Feb although dates to be confirmed. Love to see you there and you can see what the miniature side of things is all about before you commit, unless you have already joined the madness?

    Keep in touch.

    Neil

Welcome to the Aerodrome Mark from near Leeds Bradford Airport. Normally I would be welcoming you from Derbyshire but I am working in the area at the moment.

Wish to encourage your thoughts towards collecting aircraft for the game. We have a big contingent of members in the north of the UK who play WW1 or WGF & I used to live in West Yorkshire myself near Holmfirth

    Thanks all,
Was at Vapnartak this Feb and will be there again next year all being well. Played at the Scarborough show, earlier this year (or was it last year? cant quite remember). Am a member of the Harrogate Wargames club and will be trying to stir up a bit of interest for Wings with my comrades there. I know how it goes with these games, have done it so often before, once I start buying the miniatures...self control will go out of the window....as will a bundle of the hard earned! so I really need to hold fire on that until I can be sure of getting a few games in locally.

......But we all know that wont happen, I will have an armful of models by the end of the month....We have all done it havent we?

Rebel (Reg) is still active he came to Doncaster 2015. He definitely plays WW1 or WGF and is a friendly and experienced player.

BTW - At this rate another player will soon be joining the Aerodrome from West Yorkshire. Ben from FT says Aerodrome looking fantastic after guided tour of website from me

Suggestion - take a look at WW2 Missions / Circuits and Bumps as in there is a bank-friendly strategy for collecting WW2 that could easily save your wallet with WW1 too. Prepare to take your First Solo my friend

If you ever want a go at WW2 like I have a go as often as possible at WW1 we will have to meet up next time I am positioned at Leeds Bradford Airport. Looks like I am heading back that way soon which I am glad about - Leeds is ace.

I did the reverse - bought scads of aircraft before I even tried the game. Just bought Watch Your Back last week.

Great stuff I will message (PM) you on here when I'm next at Leeds Bradford Airport. The hotel I usually stay at is very nearby and has space for a gaming mat and two to four players.

PS - Glad you liked the Circuits and Bumps idea. Collecting really is fun but I too have had to watch my six for my bank manager chasing me from time to time!

Embis (Mark) made tit to the club tonight and joined our Pacific Theatre WW2 game. Avengers escorted by Wildcats and Corsairs attacking an off table Japanese Carrier.
We gave Mark the 2 Corsairs and threw him in at the deep end. He did remarkably well once he joined the action. See attached photos.

I did caption all these photos but they do not appear to have uploaded with the pics.
Basically the Avengers Break free while the escort tackles the outer CAP. The Avengers then ran into the inner CAP and had a few sticky moments before a Corsair rejoined and took one of them out. The avangers were then able to press their attack on the Carrier losing one aircraft while the other caused damage with an accurate bomb run scoring with one hit with a 500lb-der.

..and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks Reg, for a very enjoyable evenings gaming. Some really nice looking models on the table. I hope you will let me know next time you are playing and, if there is room on the table, I will happily join you again.

You also managed to kindle an interest in WW2. My wallet won't thank you for that!

    Thanks again Reg. Great night.
