Default Silver and gold WW1 aircraft

I have just returned from Italy and while there I visited a games store to see if they had any WOG planes i still require. I was surprised to find some all silver and all gold planes with no markings at all but they come in the standard boxes. Does anyone have any idea what they are for?

They were "Gimmes" produced by Nexus as promo/prizes - I hope you bought them ?!

Yup, Flash has the right of it.
They were intended as prizes for Wings of War tourneys and such by Nexus games, I also hope that you grabed them

What aircraft types were these? Also is there any chance of a photo or two of your amazing find.

Well done you if you picked these up. I would hang onto these if you did as it sounds like they may be worth something

The gold one is a Spad with Baracca's card, the silver one is a Albatros D.V with Jentsch's card.

Thanks for the info. guys. Sadly I didn't get them my wife was with me and wanted to move on quickly. Did want to go back but never got the chance. There were a few of each Spad and Albatros D V selling for €14.99 if i remember rightly so if any one is in Florence the shop is in Via Dei Servi just NE of the cathederal. Even if they have all gone it is a good shop with an impressive second hand stock (which i also never got to look atproperly :-(

I think that shop has been there for years. Sounds vaguely familiar anyway though when I last visited Firenze (Florence) there were still DC-9s flying around Europe!

Shame you never got the chance to buy any of these

Ok, the florentine shop is Stratagemma and actually they have three silver minis at 18€ each.
I live in Florence but, usually, I spend my Xmas holiday in London.

Stratagemma started with a handpainted golden Dr.I for one of his topurnaments, here the story:

    https://boardgamegeek.com/image/3403...war-miniatures

Roberto RoG Gigli modified the box and even made a specific card for iot.

They did it again next year with a SPAD:

Then Nexus did a limited print run of Series 1 golden and silver planes for the same purpose, never for sales but given to shops and clubs organizing events. See here please:

Ooooooo! A gold triplane! Must have one! Elves to the gold safe, immediately! Or would copper be cool since we live in the Copper State? Hmmmmmmmmm . . .

Yeah, definitely like the "Copper Baron"

Amazing what a quick coat of paint can do!

Thanks for the story and the ideas . . . and again for the game Andrea!

Hmmm. This looks like fun graphics challenge! I think I will dispense with the computer graphics and do them in watercolor pencil, bring out the Impressionist Elves!

How about "Auric Goldfokker" for the pilot?

Or "Baron Copperfokker" for the other plane?

Note: Again, this one shaded in copper gradients, not black and white.

Great cards indeed! But in pictures of Jasta 1 flight formations taken between Autumn 1917 and 10-11-2015 06:21 I'd dare to say that engine cowlings and vertical tail fins were white insetead, not golden/copper.

Thanks for pointing out my error, Andrea. I did them last night, when I was full of Thanksgiving Dinner, and missed the white trim on the models, too!

    Images above are updated.
