I may have already seen some rules relating to dive bombers as posted here, but I had another idea to possibly make the use of dive bombers a little more historically accurate.
1. Not sure how the current bomb path looks for a dive bomber, but one of two things could be done. Typically, the bombs dropped by dive bombers were going to basically head straight down (depending on the trajectory of the bomber's dive). So - either 1) have the bombs travel no more than half the length of a card each maneuver phase, or 2) have the bombs go straight down from wherever dropped, then just keep track of altitude each time it is adjusted.
2. Dive bombers MUST release their load at nothing lower than altitude 2. This allows for the realization that a dive bomber (unless a kamikaze) would be pulling out of the dive and back into the air. And that didn't happen "instantaneously". How this would look in the game is that bombs could be dropped at an altitude of no lower than '2' in a dive bomber. The altitude below the altitude at which the bombs were dropped is reserved for the "pullout".
