OK, so you want me to put down this toy to make another one for the contest?

    Only a few days left? Hmm . . . something new . . . ah, this is cool . . .

We have a strict non-discrimination policy that is ELGLM-friendly, endorsed by the Elves, Leprechauns, Gnomes, and Little Men's Chowder & Marching Society.
Little Women are included too, but the name omits them for copyright reasons. So elves are fine.

One thing - the entries are anonymous, so it's the entry being judged, not the entrant. Telegraphing what one is putting in can't always be avoided, but at least try to make it ambiguous. You've been so generous with your TB-3s that if a Zveno TB-3/I-16 combo turned up, it could be from many people. A Ju 290 - well, someone else might have made one, it's not impossible, HBM for example. So yes, that's fine. The important thing is that you enter, as we all want to see your work.

So yes please, clipper, whatever you put in is fine. It's probably impossible to disguise your authorship anyway, you're in a class of your own.

Of course if you don't win, the winner gains super bragging rights, having taken on and beaten the very best.

UPDATE - Oh yes - it only has to be painted during the contest period. An original paint or re-paint of anything you've already cast is fine.

I don't know about plural, but Sprite is already taken

Hemanja, I for one cannot see a sprite or a spriggan mentioned.

Plenty of Elves,Leprechauns, Gnomes and the Little Men from the Chowder Eating Society.

But there again I suppose it depends on what part of faerie culture you are beholding to.

What Sven said. And no elves, unless they enter under their own name (Elvish Presley?)! And no Vulcans/Victors/Valiants - noisy damn things

Do entries need to be IN by the 14th (i.e. midnight on the 13th) or can they still be posted on the 14th...?

    All the best,
    Matt

I believe it would be fair to count 14th in. At least I understood it so.

I'm told we have 8 entries in already. This should be good. There's still time for some last-minute ones though, and the more the merrier.

As far as time limit - if it's the 14th according to the server time, that's OK. 14th is the deadline, 15th is too late.

The one that got away... or at least, the one I didn't enter in the comp. The fish John West rejected, so to speak, though I think it might have gathered more votes than the one I did enter.

It will be in 17 minutes! But where? Where does it count?! At Zoe's timezone? Keith's? To be in the right timezone or not to be. That is the question...

  26. #126

I think it is dependent on what time your post/pm to Keith reads. If it is within the time frame it is in if not it aint.

This will be exciting to see all the new planes painted up!

So how will this work? Does Oberst open an album of all the entries? Is any Aerodrome member able to vote? Are we allowed to vote or as participants, sit back and chew our fingernails?

  30. #130

    Default

    Typically, rules are :
Who: Any registered Wings of War Aerodrome member.
    What: Painting Contest.
    When: (deadline)
    Winner chosen by: Community vote.

    Rules:

    One entry per member
Must be (restriction on type of aircraft)
Must be painted during the contest period.
Previous Wings of Glory Aerodrome painting contest entries (minis) are not eligible.

    Voting:

    See for example http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/sho...-Voting-part-2!

    So...in summary:

Any registered member can vote. If you have a user name and can post on the site, you qualify.

Yes, you can vote for your own entry, though it's best if you judge on merits, regardless of entrant. However, you should not let the fact that it's yours stop you from voting for it, if you think it deserves it. It's not viewed as "unsporting" if it's a genuine and honest opinion.

A new thread is started in the "Competition" section, showing pictures of aircraft, along with a poll. When there are a large number of entrants, you can vote for multiple planes.

Still 4hrs 35 mins before the deadline.

It will then take the Oberst some time to make the thread, check the entries, post the pictures, write about how to vote and what criteria to use, and also put in something about prizes - the prize definition usually happens before the contest starts, but the Oberst has been a bit busy lately.

So while we're all champing at the bit - not least of all me - it may be a day or two before the voting opens, and we can see what the entries are.

I just want to give the Oberst a vote of thanks for getting the comp underway. It's not a trivial amount of work he's doing for all of us.

  34. #134

Yes give the Oberst a few days time to arrange the whole stuff.

For me now it's all cool and nice from now on.
The best part is already done, I have one more bomber painted.
Now I'll appreciate the work of my friends, will envy some, applaud all and read the comments about it.

    Aaaah?!
When will we start the next painting contest?

How about early in the New Year? Depending upon the Oberst's workload. Hopefully the Kickstarter deliveries will be over (there's a lot of accessories), and I don''t think the new series will be ready before February. If not, we're looking at March at the earliest.

It might just be possible for him to delegate, as I'm concerned that we're running him ragged.

It usually takes at least a few days, often a week, to get the entries put up in the "competition" area. Then voting takes another week.

    Greeting all,

I'm afraid it's going to be a day or so longer. I've been really sick the last several days and have just not had the energy to pull all this together. I did not even browse the site this weekend I'll try and get it all sorted tonight after work if the 11-12 hour day does not kill me. lol

Sorry about his ladies and gentlemen, I know you have been looking forward to seeing the entries.

I hope Herr Oberst did not meet your Adjutant D.Manley recently, WingCo. Otherwise he would feel under the weather much longer.
