    Default Serial Adventure Stories

Hi all - haven't posted in the forums in a bit because I've been off getting married (and planning a wedding!), but now that I've managed to come through a week and a half of marriage successfully, here I am again!

I'm considering posting a weekly or bi weekly serial which would be a historically based story about WW1 air battles or pilots. Would anyone be interested in reading that and would this be the place to post such an item? My particular (varied) topics of interest and consideration are the Italian Front, Baracca, Von Richthofen, Franz Stigler, Roy Brown, and Boelcke.

Thanks and have a great week!

Hey Dave, congratulations on the wedding and nearly two weeks of marriage!

Don't want to speak for others, but if you write it, I'll give it a read.

Excuse my language, but that's pretty damn cool.

Congratulations David and it's great to have you back with us

Please do go ahead with this idea - I'm a full-time WW2 / WGS player with a closet interest in WW1 & playing WGF whenever the chance to do so arises. Here would be the chance to learn more about WGS's sister-game and it's background ...

Thanks Aussie - are you an ex Pat? - I am still gathering ideas of what to write exactly, but I've wanted to use my writing skill for something that people might enjoy, and working on installments might allow me to get some stuff out there for a test audience!

Congratulations Dave - publish and be da..... well you get my drift - I would suggest that you put your results up in the Mission discussions forum or the AAR sub-forum as they seem to be more appropriate than this one. Look forward to seeing your stories !

Perhaps a blog would be a better place, just an idea.

Great news on your marriage and I didn't know Eric could perform those either! A man of many talents.

Welcome back too, bit backwards/forewards this but I'm under the weather.....man flu!
See you on the Dark Side......

Congratulations to you and your wife on your marriage, David. Is your wife likely to become a wingwoman and join us here?

Yes, I would be interested in reading a historically based flying serial story but please do not let it take priority over building your relationship with your wife.

Loop - Thanks! Dave (Sussex) - thanks and that's a good suggestion. Andrzej/Neil - Yes, Eric's quite a guy. David (Norfolk) - thanks. Not sure about the wingman yet; I'll probe a bit to see what her interest is or isn't. For now these types of games aren't her thing, but she's interested to hear what I'm doing. Certainly our marriage will be the top priority! Eric's always telling me not to schedule too many things during the first year of marriage and it is good advice!

...and now I'm remembering the "wedding" scene from _The Wind Rises_.... :)

    Congratulations on your wedding, David!

Marriage is a wonderful institution (if you like living in Institutions!)

As said above, if you write it, I'll read it!

Historical fiction based on some of the lesser-known (eg, Balkans, colonial fighting in Africa, or possibly even teh Italian front) would probably get my interest.

Congratulations on tying the Knot Dave.
Good to have you back on active service.
Is your Good Lady a player?
I would love to follow your serial on this site, as I need constant drip feeding with WW1 incidents and action, otherwise I get withdrawal symptoms, which usually culminates in Gin fueled a buying frenzy.

Thanks Tim - she and I have both agreed that we don't mind institutionalization. As long as you're each other's type of crazy, it seems to work ok, or so I've heard.
Sam - yes I'm exploring some specific, perhaps lesser known stories that might make interesting reading. Of course, we've all heard versions of the big ones (Red Baron, etc.) but some of those mysteries where we don't know exactly what happened in the end.. those could be fun!
Rob - Thanks! She's not yet a player, but has observed a little I believe. She may be interested in trying out a few scenarios with Eric and Sue or others she knows; if I can pull her in at all, I'm sure it will be for the social aspect, at least at first. Time will tell.

All - thanks for the feedback! I will be exploring different stories and ideas and Eric has some ideas on where I might post them.

Adding my congrats to the growing list as well.. and a good idea too. (I do hope there weren't any added 'aircraft' noises during the ceremony..

Thanks Troy - nope, everyone behaved at the ceremony. Was short and sweet, and then we got to do something that Eric and I both enjoy very much - eat delicious food. There was this butternut squash ravioli at the reception that was outstanding.
