Default Battle of Britain (Central Fla. Garrison)

The London Times Battle report by Sgt. Louie LeBeau 213 Squadron

The German High Command attempted to slip a tanker and two freighters through the channel last night. They were intercepted after dawn north of the Dover straights. They were guarded by three E-Boats. Coastal Command assigned a flight of twelve Swordfish to the attack, I Sgt. LeBeau and five of your British Heroes, flew escort, one of them flying a new Spitfire.
As the convoy came into sight, the Spitfire and I were the only fighters actually in position to protect the torpedo bombers. The Hurricane pilots were out on the left looking for a fight. Three Me109s and two Me110s would give it to them. Frist contact had a hurricane taking a shot at a 109 and a lone 109 flying through the bombers. As he came through the formation, we exchanged shots. He made a slow right turn to line up on a Swordfish as I made a hard left to get another shot at him. My D 520 poured round after into the 109. He attempted a hard left to get away, but I turned inside of him and shot him down, Frist blood to to the Frenchie Viva La France.

Looking for new victims, I spotted another 109 coming in low with a Hurricane on his tail. In the Background I could see a Hurricane crashing into the channel. I turned and dove, firing as i leveled off. The German 109 pilot attempted several manuvers to get me off his tail, but agian, I anticipated well and sent several shots into his backside. I had him shot up well enough that he was no longer a treat to the bombers, but there were two 110s that had gotten past the Hurricanes and were in a postion to fire on the formation, so I turned towards them. I could see the 109 pilot shaking a fist at me in frustration. As I turned , a Hurricane, piloted by a burley gentleman with a rather odd name that evades me at the moment, slipped in a shot dowmn the 109 that I had mangled.

In the distance , a new 109 was entering the fray. The 110s had come through the formation and preformed a split-S to get onto the bombers tail. I was behind and to the left of them. The speed of my D520 would have me there in mere moments. As I approacheed the 110s, I took time to survey my surroundings. The Spitefire was on right was coming fast. The Hurricane that had just scored was now taking on a E-Boat. What a folly, I thought, but as the Hurricane was blown into tiny pieces , The E-Boat erupted into flames and shrapnel, one of his MG round must have found a Torpedo warhead, Good show!

As the 110s closed to firing range on the bombers. I fired into the side of the left 110. Making a hard left I fired into the right 110. I remained on its tail for another shot. The 110s attemted a left slip. Anticipating, yet agian, I also slipped left and continued firing. Pieces were screaming off the 110. I imaggine its crew was were doing some screaming. The 110s turned towards a E-Boat for cover I followed.

The Bombers were flying in groups of four. One group had lost three planes and one group had lost one those two groups decided to launch their torpedos at the tanker and turn back for home. Only one made it back home. the tanker when up in a enormous ball of flames. I positioned myself for anothershot at the 110, This should be the kill shot...but Alas, I was hit by fire from the E-Boat and when down. I could see the Spitfire had made it to the 110s who were now down on the deck and headed for home. He got off a few shots at the 110s but also fell victim to the E-Boats fire.

In all one more 109 was spotted in the area and Two more Hurricanes arived on the sence . The four remaining Swordfish made there run on the lead frighter, sinking it. An 109 tried to follow them for a while. He shot one down but the tail gunners of the other three convined him to return to his base. The Allied force destryed one Tanker, one Freighter, one E-Boat and two 109s at the loss of five fighters and 8 torpedo planes. 5 bomber crews, and three allied fighter pilots (me included) were rescued.

This After action report was written by Ricky Grice(Sgt. LeBeau) he thinks that because he is the only Free French pilot in 213 squdron he is getting the short end of the stick in the press releases

We used ship cut outs to scale to the planes. I use the E-boat from the forum and the torpeto hit probs and damage from Seekrieg 4 a naval game our group also plays regular.

Anyone read Patrick Bishop's Battle of Britain: Day-By-Day Chronology? It would be interesting to follow the exact events that day and see if history would have been changed depending on the encounter.

Looks like you have at least 3 people on the forum who've read it.

Just picked up on this one as I was not around WW2 back then in 2010 but did enjoy this AAR.
I wonder if any of those chaps have revisited WW2 now we have BoB models again becoming available?

It was a good report for back in 2010.
I wonder what happened to Dale after that year.
