Thread: another battle in The Hague

  1. #1

Default another battle in The Hague

On August 22nd once again the air above Den Haag / The Hague was full of roaring plane engines and the rattling sound of Spandau and Vickers MGs.
This time my (Guus aka Aardvark1430) opponent was none other then Alfonso "Poncho" Latour from Spain.
We met for the first time so we started getting to know each other a bit, then we were off to play WOGF.

    the opponents at work ...

We played two games, one a straight dogfight between Alsonso's 2 Spad XIIIs and my 2 Fokker D.VIIs.

Next we played a reconnaissance mission, me flying two Bristol Fighters (the recce team) and Alfonso flying two Albatros D.Vs. Victory condition was for at least the photographing plane to reach the safe end of the table. I managed to shoot down one of the Albatrosses, took the pictures and headed back to safety.
Alas, Alfonso managed to shoot at me and the plane carrying the precious photographs exploded. Another game lost ...

With an eye on the clock we decided that time was running out so we called it a day.
I look back on a very pleasant day of fighting which, I'm certain, will be repeated in the not so far future.
Plans are to also invite Blackronin for the next session as well as a nearby living Dutch rookie.
We'll see, but for now THANKS Alfonso for the enjoyable afternoon.

It was brave of Alonso to take on 2 Biffs with 2 DVa:s but this shows that nothing is set until the game is over. Well done both of you.
    Great pics!

This looks like a great time, lads! Glad you were able to make this happen - what brought Alfonso up to Den Haag? It sounds like the next round with Joaquim and your newbie friend will be even better. I look forward to the report. Don't let 'Quim get away with anything...

    All the best,
    Matt

    Great news.
It's all action again for the Dutch flight after a long time being somewhat quiet.
    Well done Guss.

By the way, Guus, did you think about playing with Thomas (Thomatchef)? He is from Begium and there are no other active players, only him. He is very good in repaints

Ah, thanks for posting this Guus! Lots of explosions in these two encounters indeed, and the second mission was kind of a failure... for both Your recce boy died but both my pilots went down in the process...

    Hey Poncho,
I'm glad you're liking the AAR ... I completely forgot to tell (or didn't want to embarrass you ...) that both your Albatros D.V's went down as well ...
    Cheerio,

Lots of positive remarks on my repaints , fuelled me enough to start on the "shapeways" SE.5a's I acquired and received recently, hope I can manage that ...
