Default Another Aeronaut book - another high price....

Just come out - but a whopping £38.49 if you want one

550 photos (36 in color), 170 color profiles, and 280 pages, for the same price as they want for Volume 1 of the Hansa-Brandenburg trilogy, which has 230 pages, 475 photos (59 in color), 67 color profiles, so marginally better value...

    Get it here
Run for your life - there are stupid people everywhere!

    Want it!
    Can't afford it!

    Maybe next year..................

Thanks for flinging yet more temptation my way, Steve!

This one's probably not for me, but I dare say I'll keep my eyes peeled and have a good think if I see it in the flesh as it were....

Ouch, $59.99 Amazon US. It would be nice to have a look at it before plunking down that much money.

My sentiments exactly - for a "general interest" book, that's just too much to buy sight-unseen. I have and doubtless will occasionally buy at that sort of price, but generally more specialist stuff - if a book's in a niche I particularly want in-depth material on, I'll bite the bullet, but for a more general title, that's likely to have a lot I've already seen / know, I'd definitely want to have a browse and convince myself there's new material there to justify it.

I don't know if it's generally true, but I find there's a lot of recycling in these Aeronaut books in the couple of examples I've seen. For instance, the pages on the A.E.G. N.I are exactly the same in their A.E.G. book and their Nachtflugzeug book (of which a good deal is devoted to the AEG N.I). I expect the "German Armored Warplanes" book will repeat the pages on the J.I and J.II from the A.E.G. book.

On the good news front.... I see you can buy some of their recent titles for $9.99 in PDF form, directly from their website.

Sounds like there's a lot of room for repetition in this title... between the volumes covering the 1918 trials, aircraft development (in general), and the specific manufacturers...

Sure is a pretty cover, though...

Must admit my main concern on this one is more the profiles than the text - 170 colour profiles sounds rather a handy resource, but if most of them are relatively well-known machines, then between Pearson, Boucher and a stack of Osprey titles, I've probably got them already....

Hmm... have been thinking about the A.E.G. book... but I have the Nachtflugzeug! already. Perhaps I shall wait.

That is good news. I will definitely check this out, thanks for passing this on.
