It comes with the chance to fly in a Spitfire, too? Enter before 30 September! Link: Spitfire Ale - Flight Opportunity

PS: Rule No. 1 of the competition: "This Promotion is open to residents of United Kingdom aged 18 or over, excluding employees of the Promoter, their families, agents or anyone else professionally connected with this promotion." Link: Terms and Conditions Darn!

Real Ale-wise we also have Lancaster Bomber in the United Kingdom. It tastes similar to Spitfire Kentish Ale and all in all is a very nice tipple.

I bet those are not the only limitations when it comes to what happens after somebody has won the Fly A Spitfire competition: The one mentioned by Mike in Posting #2. You have height and weight restrictions for starters even if it is to fly one of the two-seater Spitfire Mk IXT trainer aircraft. There are also certain medical conditions which could possibly put an end to flying a Spitfire which is a shame. But one has to remember that the winner is sitting in an enclosed space which will no doubt be put through semi-aerobatic flight (such as steep turns) and of course has to be able to reach the control column and pedals at the same time!

I will see if I can find a picture of a bottle of Lancaster Bomber ...

Here is a picture of the Lancaster Bomber Ale that Barnaby mentioned. The competition was to win a flight in a Lancaster last year.

Thought I would check our local specialist that carries over 1200 bottled beers.

They have 35 from England, but not such luck on these.
Maybe I will see about Special Order ...

No, but we do have the full selections of Bear Grylls beers -- Pale Ale; Stout; Dark Amber; Hard Lemonade....

Tho' for some reason, no one will touch them.... >;)

Well its not Spitfire or Lancaster Ales but our American members should be able to grab these locally!

Just googled 'em, Barry, at www.airfieldwines.com and they have in their 'reds' section bottles of Mustang, Spitfire, and Hellcat wines, as well as a Flygirl White wine that has a label similar in style to the Bombshell Red...

They are out of Washington State, so I will have to look around for them here in Ohio - of course they do ship, so I can always order from the source...they have some nifty trinkets in their store, too.

Thanks for the heads-up on them!

    All the best,
    Matt

I don't believe my luck ... My local convenience store across the road is currently selling bottled Spitfire Premium Kentish Ale and was until recently selling Lancaster Bomber.

If I top 1000 Postings (Sorties Flown) today I'll treat everybody to a of Spitfire at the bar in the Mess - this for me is #985

Give Shepherd Neame Ltd based in Faversham in Kent a go. They brew Spitfire - just asked in shop across the road.

Well sadly no "battle of Britain"-bottle in Sweden but I'm happy to make do with a Spitfire.
