    Default Reviresco Fokker E-III

    Hi All,

My Riveresco Fokker E-III arrived in the mail today.
Have any of you guys much experience with these models?
I am a little disappointed with the quality, is this normal for diecast?
What glue should I use to assemble it?

    Cheers,
    Daniel

    Hi Daniel

The quality looks pretty normal, judging from your picture. Careful cleaning up/trimming flash with a sharp modelling knife and some small files can work wonders. The kits I have built are actually not bad, but do need quite a bit of work.

Main structural parts (fuselage, wings etc) need a strong 2-part epoxy like Araldite or Evostik.
Small parts glue O.K. with superglue (gel allows more control than liquid).

Agreed on all points there. You could do a lot worse than having a browse through the "how to" section on here - it's rather hidden away, but there are some very useful guides and tips in there:

There's no specific thread on the Reviresco E.III unfortunately, but plenty of other Reviresco and Skytrex builds to give you an idea of how best to tackle it.

Maybe that is something we could rectify for future reference Dom.

Possibly - it's one of those things that you rather need to know it's there before you'll find it. Maybe a link in the header of the hobby room forum?

    Here's the finished model.

Thanks guys for your advice. That gel superglue is great stuff.

I used 5 minute araldite (2 part epoxy) for the wings and gel superglue for everything else.

I am in two minds about attempting the rigging.

Blimey you work fast. Turned out a blooming sight better than my first kit attempt too.

    Yes, super-quick!
My first attempts at metal plane kits took a LOT longer than that! Are you sure the glue has dried?

This is a great idea! Additionally, I know there's a thread or three about how to prep/paint/etc. Shapeways models... that would be great to have at our fingertips as well.

And totally sorry that I momentarily thread-jacked... that's a wonderful-looking E.III! I've never managed one of Reviresco's models (cursed hands with 10 thumbs), but can appreciate one well done!

I've used black cotton to do the cables.
    What do you think?

A good taut fit for the flying wires Daniel.
I have been using nylon sewing thread for mine as it's a bit thinner, but yours looks O.K.
You made a good job of the whole build there.
