Default AAR - Solo Game - Battle of Britain -Adlertag Re-enactment

OK, so I'm not quite ready to post the AAR, but I am ready to shoot it.

This will be an attempt to Stop-Motion Animate a WGS "game". It is set up like this:

Name:	Test201308_001.jpg
Views:	76
Size:	129.1 KB
ID:	173898

    Top Right:
    Bf-110, He-111, 2 Bf-109s (JG 26)

    Bottom Right:
    4 Bf-109s (JG 53), 2 Ju-87s

    Bottom Left:
3 Hawker Hurricanes (No. 46 Sqn, Thanks Dave [clipper1801]

    Center Left:
4 Supermarine Spitfire Mk IIs (mixed Sqns, representing stragglers thrown into the mix, to help the Hurries, if things don't go well)

    Top Left:
3 Hawker Hurricanes (No.1 RCAF Sqn)

The end image will be zoomed in a bit, to leave the set-up planes out of frame. Then:

    Scripting:
The He-111 will start moving into frame, with the Stukas coming shortly afterward. As they progress across the table, the Bf-110 and a Schwarm of JG 53s will come on. The two Hurrie Vics will enter shortly thereafter.

The remaining Bf-109s will follow, and depending on how the shoot goes, the Spitfires may come in to mop up, or save the Hurries.

This might be a bit of a mess, with a minimum of eight frames per maneuver card. It might take a few days to shoot all the frames, and then comes post-production to compile them into a video. Youtube may be the only place I can put it, when I'm done.

    Wish me luck.

Maybe my sense of history is flighty, but isn't the Battle of Britain a WW2 event?
So maybe this thread needs moved to the WW2 section?

Principle imagery done, with over 200 images taken.

It ended very messily, with only three planes getting off the table.

    He didn't make it.

Now to clean up, manipulate, compile and render all the shots into a video. This might take a week.

A bloodbath there Mike . Are you going to give the movie a Certificate ratings for our younger members, given the carnage you seem to have produced ??

I am very much looking forward to seeing the end result Mike. Hope you are having fun compiling the video / putting the end result together.

The AAR tells it like it was for sure. Grand scale dogfights with planes raining from the sky. Was glad that one of the unscathed was the grey Supermarine Spitfire Mk I - Le Mesurier Edition. One of my all time favourite WGS aircraft ...

For theatrical effect, I started with an empty mat, and brought in the slow moving planes. They came across the mat from the "channel" side, with escorts closing in behind, and two vics of Hurricanes coming in from the "land" side, in the far corners.

By Turn 9, the He-111 was almost over the beach, with no damage done to it, and the No. 1 Sqn Hurries not in position to commence shooting (I was trying to replicate a "No. 1 Attack" from my Battle of Britain book, but seriously misjudged the timing). Two Spits came on from the center of the "land" side to assist.

Combat commenced in Turn 10, with a pot-shot from the "higher altitude" bomber on No. 1 Sqn Hurries, who then ran head-long into the Bf-110 the next turn.

Turn 12, and the He-111 was over land, and had no significant damage. On came the last two Spits from the top corner, straight into the bomber. I still misjudged the approach, and they only got one shot on it.

The Bf-110 and a 46 Sqn Hurrie were downed in Turn 13, commencing the carnage.

Another 46 Sqn Hurrie, the He-111, and a Stuka thundered in in Turn 15 (the other two Spits finished off the He-111, just as it left the edge of the image frame), and two No. 1 Sqn Hurries followed in Turn 16.

Turn 17 saw the demise of Vybral's Spit, he drew three "0"s to survive a close-ranged Bf-109 shot in the side, but his remaining point was delivered by a revenge shot from the Stuka, as it went down. The last No. 1 Sqn Hurrie succumbed to accumulated damage.

Turn 18 took down Falkowski and Haptmn Horten, Galland's winger.

Turn 19 was the end of the battle, as the last 46 Sqn plane went in, Le Mesurier (#1), Olt Fiel and his winger, and Galland all went down.

It took until Turn 28 to get the surviving Bf-109s off the "Channel" side of the map.

So, a long lead-in, and a long finish, but an intense 9 turns in the middle.

PS: The RAF planes may have done better, had I not forced them to concentrate on taking out the bomber and the Stukas as soon as possible (IE: Don't let them off the mat!). So, some judicious retreats and re-engagement options were not used, to the detriment of the RAF planes. The last 46 Sqn plane was retreating, until I swung him back in for a quick pass on the Bf-109s, but that was obviously a deadly mistake. Well, he did take Obt Fiel with him, though.
