Default Ok, I'm bidding on a "USED" copy of Wings of War WWI: Famous Aces

I'm bidding on a used copy of Wings of War WWI: Famous Aces On Ebay.
The bid has reached $30 US. and the seller is charging $8.18 for shipping it.

The normal retail price on this is $34 US. Um Hello? It's friggin USED!!

Is Fantasy Flight ever going to re-print the original game??? OR are these rules OOP???

Cause if they are OOP then I'll bust it and pay more than retail for it on Ebay inclusive of Shipping.
Otherwise, if it's going to be re-printed, then I'm gonna let it go. I'll wait for the reprint to come back in stock.

    Hi Daniel,

If you really really want it, go ahead. Or you could just be patient, as it WILL be reprinted... the Col may know when that is due?

    Regards,
    Adrian

Daniel, FA is going to be reprinted, not sure when but I'd say pretty soon. All the box sets are hard to find now and that is what triggers Nexus to reprint them. Any reason you want Fa so bad?

Also, since we have a site sponsor now, we are not allowing the posting of other stores without approval. Thanks.

Well Col. I don't have it. That's why... I'm looking for the "core" rules for the WW1 game so I can study them and play solo missions if I want to.
I have the WW2 game rules from the Deluxe box set. But the dynamics are different enough that they do not interchange between the versions.

and if the site sponsors had the game in stock, then I would most likely purchase it from them.

On a "Used" game that has been punched and such, I just cannot justify spending more for it than what it sold for "New"!

Some schmuck is tho'... Unless the buggar was Shill bidding to drive the price up.
If I get a 2nd chance offer from the seller then I'll pm him that I will take it at my first bid price before the other twit jacked it up to over $30.

What I don't understand is, if the Famous Aces is the "Core" rules, then why are they being so sluggish about keeping it in print?

That is the beauty of a free market -- supply and demand... Though I am sure you don't need to hear that. ;-) I wouldn't pay more than retail for a used game either, but some seem to get up in the bidding frenzy I suppose.

I don't remember the thread, but I am sure the Colonel can point you in the right direction. The Colonel (I believe) wrote up a list outlining what to purchase and in what order -- and for what reason (certain cards, rules, etc.). The core rules you can download from this site. Both of these should get you going on the right track. I also have most if not all the downloads, so let me know what exactly you are looking for.

    Cheers!

Aye, that you can. Problem is you cannot print them out.
Or at least I'm not able to for some reason.
I get a pop up that tells me that there are no pages to print.

but its not JUST the rules that I want. I want the cards, chits, etc etc!

What can't you print out? Must be you are using Windoze?! Seriously, I have all the downloads and most of them printed out; never had a problem printing them -- did you download them first to your computer? Let me know what you need -- we can always take them to Office Max and print them out.

As for the damage chits -- those you can print out on card stock or mount on discs, and they work just like the cards. This would at least hold you over (and may be a better system than the cards for drawing damage). Maneuver cards and such are also available, but I haven't bothered with them since I play with miniatures and of course each plane has the necessary maneuver deck.

Daniel, if you play with minis, order the first Deluxe Set out of Canada. It will give you all the cards (not all the extra plane cards though) and chits plus the four series 1 minis. You would need to download and print out the rules though.... they will be in French.

Have not found it available yet. Or if it is, who has it?

They are out of stock in Canada -- guess you will just have to wait for the new release.

Like I said, let me know what you need and I'll get you printouts of what I have (that others have generously created).

    Cheers!

James, the core rules. don't really need the aircraft cards since the models come with them. I suppose for gunnery practice I'll just use the damage chits from my DoW game.
I would like to copy the tiles that you put the cards and chits on during play. Hell I could use everything you got!

However, I did just score two 1:144 scale metal model RE 8's so I'll need to find out what set the cards are in for them. Probably Watch your back would be my guess.

And will need to order stands for them from here.

That is about $35 US, so a pretty good price!

PAV, could you see if there is an online Italian store that has it for us?

I think the shipping will be the killer..
I remember shipping to Italy for an Ebay auction once. The shipping for a 2oz box was insane!!!

Well, I ship first class to Italy all the time and it is not very much. The kicker is when you add insurance.

As Ned Seagoon once lamented: "Insurance -- the White Man's Burden!"

    Hi Hajj
here is the link to an italian on-line shop..
    http://giochinscatola.it/catalog/adv...3a&language=en
I select US dollar as currency and English as language... I don't know their delivery policy and cost, but ask costs anything..
They also have some games at a discounted price...

    Have a nice shopping

Okay, that site does not have the first Deluxe set in stock, but their shipping for the WWII version to Colorado was about $27. So it might be possible to have one of the Italian pilots to buy the first DS at that cheaper store and still have it shipped to the States for around the full retail cost of it. Just a thought.

I'm confused. This original post was about "Famous Aces" not the Deluxe set.

And I wasn't aware that we couldn't post other stores prices.

    It won't happen again.

    It was Ed.
Somehow the subject of the Deluxe set for WW1 was inserted. (which I would love to get my hands on a copy.) but I WAS bidding on a used copy of Famous Aces. It eventually sold for over $34 + $8 shipping.

Opps, it was about FA to start with! No worries, it is a new rule. Feel free to PM people directly though.

Hi James, I haven't played lately. Been kind of busy with some other new interests, like practicing fast draw so I can compete in CFDA (Cowboy fast draw association) and playing pool on my new table.
I plan on being in Tombstone on the 21st to watch the SASS Bordertown shootout.
What days do you play at your local store?

    Ed
