    Default Balloon Dimensions?

So I've decided to attempt to make a balloon using either clipper's foam method or (depending on dimensions) using my buddy's 3D printer. I have a set of good blueprints but I'm curious as to what size all of you have made your balloons. What do you think is a good length for it? I'm not sure if I want it 1/144 scale so let me know what scale and length you think works best. I only need length because I can scale it down on the blueprint and it will all be relative.
    Thanks!

17.5cm then it should match the old WoW ones !

Great drawings for this Wurst, Steven! I look forward to seeing what you come up with. I only have one balloon, and I sorely need more!!

    All the best,
    Matt

Good images/drawings, and its good to have the original dimensions and rope positions too.
    Thx for sharing Steven.

Thanks, it took a bit of searching but those were the best drawings I've found. And 17.5 cm looks to be almost exactly what 1/144 scale is so that's what I'll go with. I printed out the scaled drawing and it looks like a good size. I'll definitely post pictures of my progress for you guys, its my first time making this sort of thing so we'll see how good/bad it turns out haha.

The Caquot balloon (which your drawing show) came in six sizes; "L" and "M" (not sure their volume), "P" (750m3), "P.2" (820m3), "M.2" (930m3), and "R" (1000m3). So you have some justification if anyone ever complains that your balloon is not the "right size".... just ask them which version they're referring to. ;-) The one I did for Shapeways was a Type "M", which was pretty common along the front. It's about 6-1/2" long (17cm) at 1:144.

    Thumbs up

Here is a pic of the WoW Balloon in a demo I set up at a local Library for a WW1 display. You see how it looks with the aircraft. Just Perfect.
