So what's on yours then Chris?

All things WWII nightfight over Germany.
Gathering models, data, records, comparisons, everything to help me recreate tabletop nightfights.
Model conversions have started.
Some original models bought (well, scales will differ from 1:100 - through 1:144 to 1:200 maybe), some need to be built, some need conversions.
I felt I need some fresh idea to feed my gaming passion.
Rules? Oh, yes, I have them. Surprisingly easy to grasp and well written. Secret now.
Karl knows it, but Karl - do not cook my goose, please!

I will follow your night-fighting developments with interest, Andy! That is definitely an area I would be interested in from a Dark Side perspective.
My workbench is full of unmentionables from previous months, but that probably won't stop me from adding things this month into the queue...right now I'm thinking I need to add some more 1st Bombardment Squadron Capronis for mild repaints...
All the best,
Matt
1/200 Bf109Gs, Bf109Ks, Fw190a-3s, Fw190Fs, Me262 with 50mm cannon, Typhoons, Mustangs and more 15mm Thrity Years War Swedes (not the same lot as last month so I can count them )

No problem all old projects have assigned. They are now coming attractions! I need to finish some new ground targets for GOA on the 21st and 22nd. I may do a couple of F-Toys repaints for GOA a P-40 and a P-39 give them that lend Lease look!
Rich
Contemplating actually having the time for painting for the first time in aaaaages.... 45 squadron Camels first on the workbench, probably some for me and some for Ebay. Then Jasta 18 Fokkers I reckon.
3 x 52's
3 x 88's
3 x Blenheims
12 x swordfish
3 x Langton 74's
and all the rest from June & July that I haven't even started yet
and Confederate 2nd Corps at Gettysburg in 15mm
and a special project.
See you on the Dark Side......
Next time you are over I must show you my ACW 15 mm army Neil.

1 Pfalz DIII left over from last month
2 x Jasta 18 Fokkers left over from last month
1 x Skytrex BE2 left over from last YEAR!!!
3 x Jasta 40 Fokkers
2 x Shapeways BE2s
More MkII clouds
Ground targets
Lots of altitude pegs for cutting!
more than I'll manage to complete, I reckon
A sad and moving story Chris, also one with which I am thankfully totally unfamiliar.

I'm all caught-up having finished 2x 1 1/2 Strutters (Shapeways) a couple of weeks ago. I need a break.
It's still Summer up here, and if ya don't use it ya lose it.
I'll order more gimbals and other "toys" from the drome, ponder my next "thrust" and do some buying in Sep/Oct.
My brother and I came back from ORIGINS in June loaded with 12 Ares minis and a lot of great scenario ideas from the Buckeye gamer lads.
Perhaps we'll concentrate on making neat ground targets that will also serve both our face-to-face and PBeM gaming needs.
Well calling this a repaint would be stretching definitions to breaking point, but it's the first thing to make it off of my workbench in many months, so I'm quite pleased anyway....
Kest 5 SSW D.III of Heinrich Dembrowski - the personal marking was the cypher of his old regiment. Obviously just a minor job on an Ares D.III (Lange) - overpainted the skull and crossbones in black, and added the new personal marking. Beckhardt's next on the to-do list....
Nice looking repaint, nonetheless!
Working on the French, 2 Spad VIIs and 3 Spad XIIIs for Spa48, a Paul Schmitt, Spad XI, Nieuport 12, and a Letord 2. Next rounding out the British for 1917 and earlier.
Love this Siemens-Schuckert, Dom! Did you do the decal yourself? It would be fun to get a few Kest 5 birds...
All the best,
Matt
Yeah, home made decal - not sure if a larger project will come of it - I don't know enough schemes for Kest 5 birds offhand (only Lange / Eger, Dembrowski and Beckhardt's reversed swastika at the moment) to do anything comprehensive, but if my research turns up enough in future, then maybe.
Sometimes less is more Dom.
Very nice.

I like it! Very nice.
A bit of custom work this week to get back into the air . . . Nothing like a pair of Felixstowes to get things going!
And for something different, a Spad float fighter or two or three . . .
A fun way to use up some F-Toys Spads . . . new wings, stabilizers, floats
Ready for a bit of primer . . .
Records indicate around 20 were built : ) that's enough for the elves to buy into! Now about those Zeppelins on the bench outside . . .

Very nice indeed, especially the stripy Felixstowe - that's just the ticket.
Another plane finished today, and several more works-in-progress on the go. I've set myself a challenge of trying to complete a new model every day for a month, which seems pretty daft, but what the hell.... Sadly I suspect most of these will end up on Ebay rather than becoming permanent members of the Skelton collection, but it's a good excuse to get the paint brushes out at last, try a few types that I've not painted or decalled before, and definitely keep a few for my own use.
The plan for today was to finish Albert Ball's Nieuport, but that went awry, so instead today's completed model is Dorme's Nieuport 17 - a subject that I've done before, but at least it turned out alright. As you may guess, this started life as a Wings Of War Kibanov Nieuport 23, and simply got the markings painted out, decals for Dorme's markings and replacement roundels, and a good matt varnish to merge the original finish with the new metallic paint.

All these superb new planes coming off the production line, and I have three nearly finished for two months and not a chance to complete.
Well done to you chaps.
Just hope it spurs me on next week.

Very nice indeed. I've always been a mug for JG.2 machines, and those are belters.
Those look great! Ares repaints, or 3rd party?
Thanks chaps - glad you like them!
They are Ares 'Stark's, with decals from Valom and your good self Dom!
All of these planes are making me salivate - and inspiring me a bit, too! Good job, all of you
Even though school is starting back up, I vow to make August count and roll some things off the assembly/paint line - thanks for the inspiration, folks!
All the best,
Matt
If memory serves, it's I who chases you off the table Chris........................

Nice looking, David.
Letting the French in on some seaplane action, eh?
Maybe some Hanriot HD-2s next?

Just what Clipper needs - encouragement to do more....
Nice work on the SPADs - I wonder how they were used - with that 37mm they'd seem potentially well suited to ruining coastal forces' day....
Great modelling Clipper.
From scratch with at-hand materials and ingenuity .... a real McGuy-ver IMO.
And total cost ... at a guess ... less than $1 each ... plus time.
Awesome.
It looks like a lot of Shapeways builds are on the benches.
I have paper planes in progress. Slight repaint of Soubiram's Nieuport 17, x2 Fokker E III, a Morane that looks too big and in the wings: x2 Alb DV, Fokker DVII, SE5a, Camel. I'm serious thinking about Shapeways next...
Very impressive - I just cannot get the knack of paper models at this scale - too intricate for my fat fingers. I definitely take my hat off to those who can master them - it's no mean feat.
Well, I have been able to find free models, so the price is right.
Sometimes I think my fingers are getting bigger all the time, not to mention diminishing eye sight and clumsy hands dropping little pieces into the negative zone. I just swear and push on...
These fellas all fettled for combat, finished last night.
With the 'Swede' in the lead, fighter escort not required.
A small group of 17's. 3 using the decals from the Valom kit and a 'nod' to Albert Ball with what I could find in the decal box.
And a 'nod' to Mccudden and Mannock. Close enough for union work I think.
Lots still to do including a full set of Merit F4f's and B25', a load of 1/144 P40's and a load of kits.....so little time.
Very nice flights all Nigel.
The 17s look particularly smart.

Oh yes, that's a nice little gaggle.
Yep, like those Nigel.

Good work coming out this month!
